Hi. Lovely kitchen. I know rugs can really reflect personal taste, but the one you have seems inappropriate for the kitchen. In fact, I think it looks busy and kind of dirty. Both things you dont want in the kitchen.

Dang it. I was just so in love with the colors I wanted it to work. I’ll just have to find another place for it. I do have something simple and black as well.

I like the forest green alot. And I see how it's a "fit" how it works for sink and stove. Keep it if you like it....

editing to say that it would be different if the doorway, etc. were wider - is it typical width?

The original was a door. We widened it to make another archway to match the rest of the house and we made it as wide as we could get away with. We toyed with full open concept but decided against it. I have an emerald/forest green velvet couch in the living room. Trying to carry some of that throughout the house.

I have Persian-style rugs in my kitchen because they are colorful and comfortable to stand on while working. I would replace the large rug with one that fits just inside your sink zone and put a long similar runner rug in the adjacent area.

It’s a beautiful rug, but too big for the area. How practical is it? Is it stain proof, washable/machine dryable? Things get spilled from the sink to the stove. Will you vacuum every day? Think about the time cleaning the rug as opposed to sweeping and mopping that area.

I understand that you love it, so find that design in a small runner size in front of the sink. I would bet it’s polypropylene and totally washable (I.e. spot cleaning, not in the washing machine). I think it’s fine to have that design in your kitchen if it makes you happy. The size is completely off, but I bet it comes in a smaller size.

Thank you to everyone. I appreciate all the feedback. I lost my self there for a minute. Lol. It’s just so pretty. I ordered two for the dining room. Loved it so much I thought I’d try it there. It IS too big. I do love the thought of trying for a smaller one for the sink and the long runner in front of the fridge and stove area. It’s a very low pile rug and frankly pretty darned reasonable. I do have a roomba that runs daily and it would be well taken care of. It’s just me. No pets. Although those grandbabies are still babies, but they’re cute so even if they mark their territory on it, I’d be ok.
