nosoccermom - I really like #2 & #3 of your suggestions and debated about including them on my original post. I have looked at overstock for hours for rugs...the main thing that made me cautious about them was the color inconsistencies people commented about in their reviews. I was especially scared of rugs with no reviews. yaya, I do like that one! I can't fit an 8x11 though due to the angled wall fireplace....I taped out all the possible rug scenarios a few weeks ago geokid - I think you found me a winner! I love the light crate & barrel one! I have actually looked on their website several times and always passed that one over...thanks for showing me a better pic of it! I have a c&b not that far away, so I can probably get it in person as well. I started out looking at wool rugs and would love to eventually have them. I cloth diapered my youngest and got really into knitting and wool, which is so durable and water resistant as a diaper cover. Completely ot, but here is my favorite ever wool pic: I am leaning towards this rug for the dining room: I have seen it in different colors/sizes on overstock and loved it, and I finally found it in blue in the right size. I think it will brighten up the table as well as tie in to the damask in the kitchen. It's also an indoor/outdoor one.

Okay, here we go... Back at it. - I tried 4x6 at front door as solo mat... okay, but a little too big IMO. My neighbor likes this size. I don't. This rug is not appealing to me either. just trying it for size. - a 4x6 looks weird in between the bench and the console. It just reaches the furniture. No wood showing in front of furniture and rug can't reach under furniture. so that's out. I was hoping for this arrangement to keep price down, but that never seems to work for me - LOL! - a 5x8 in the long part under the furniture is so-so. This one is actually 5'3"x7'6". I think my foyer is too small for this look, but it does have the potential to cozy things up. It's hard to visualize a final product with all these mis-matched patterns. This rug is actually going on the deck. Also with my new artwork, I think my color scheme has to change too. (Sorry, tribbix, portera et als, don't luv anymore.) Here is side by side of new color on wall and new 3x5 doormat rug (which claims to actually be 3 1/2 x 5 1/2.). This is in my shopping cart and I feel okay buying it online because it is NOT 100% polypropolene (outdoor). It is 50/50 with acrylic and says "plush pile" so it should be fine in that "too outdoorsy" respect I don't want. The deck rug looks like a deck rug in the wrong part of the house. ta da... What do you think? I hope the colors are true to my monitor. If I really love it, I can still look for it in a 5x8, but I really don't feel like paying the price of a non-outdoor 5x8 right now. I have a ton of new landscaping to do at my new place and I'm chomping at the bit to get into it as the weather is improving.

Hi Lydia- I don't know where you live. Many cities have shops to purchase the real thing. But before you even think about buying anything, please educate yourself. You can do it online, or you can read it in books. Read about the carpets, how they are made, what they look like, what they should look like, and what are the signs of quality, what are the signs of a machine-made rug vs a hand made rug. Then after you have studies, then go into the shops, and don't bring any money or credit cards. For real!!! With everything in your brain, and your hands very clean, look at the rugs, and think about their quality, what is awesome, great, good, and what you wouldn't wrap a body in cause it's a cheap machine-made copy. When the salesman comes over to you, be very polite and say, Oh, I am not buying right now, I will at some time in the future. Right now, I need to educate myself all about these wonderful carpets. I suggest you do this at a time when the store isn't very busy. This way, the salesman can actually give you some time, and if you are lucky he is a nice person and will want to share some of his knowledge with you, and you can learn a lot that way. Do this at every carpet store in every city that is a reasonable driving distance from you. If this seems like a lot of work, well it is a bit of work. Think of it as learning how to buy a diamond and shopping for one Years ago, a Persian hand-knotted carpet often cost more than many people's engagement rings, too. No more, thanks to the vagaries of politics and import tariffs and embargos, etc. Don't think of it as work, think of it as an art lesson. Decorative arts, to be precise. Do you have any friends that are Persian or Turkish that can shop with you? They know rugs like Americans know baseball.

What are the measurements of the Anthropolgy mirror you are returning? I think it was a good size and would be inclined to get either the first or second choice RH mirror depending on your preference. They will both look great with your chandelier. The third is not worth whatever the additional expense and I don’t think the lines of the fourth mirror are hefty enough. When you refer to the green room pic, do you want to look for a paint color that shade or are you just referring to the pic in general? Also, do you love the fabric on your chairs or are you just going with what is there? I had the seats in my dining room chairs reupholstered a few years back and it was not expensive. I bought the fabric myself and gave it to my upholsterer, which also saved. He came to my house, unscrewed the seats and took them with him so he didn’t have to load up the chairs. I think your fabric is absolutely fine, nothing wrong at all. It just seems like you are looking for a bit of bold in the space and that could be any easy place to get it. Remember if you are placing chairs on either side of the buffet, they are very visible and the seats can add a lot of look, or not to the room. No right or wrong.
