sondramartina I love the pink! But I have a messy child, a grubby dog, and a husband who won't go for it. I already promised myself one or two velvet throw pillows in that beautiful pink.

Also love the teal, but the blue-ish parts of the rug IRL skew more blue-gray than greenish blue. If I tossed a few teal pillows around I wonder if I could choose a much brighter blue than is shown in the rug? I feel like I'm captive to the colors here - I wonder if I really am.

I think I really like your very first one still - the lovely teal. It looks very close to this Joybird velvet. Now if I can just get the Joybird fabric on this Interior Define sofa!

IMO no more red or pink at all. I love that darker green in the pic above not the emerald gree but the other one.

IRL, the darker squares register more as a blueish gray and I am not seeing the green that shows up in the photos. I agree about no more red or pink.

Another vote for something in the blue/teal color. I think whatever color you choose should be bold, like the rug, Lovely rug.

Hi katycat24- You mentioned a messy child and a grubby dog. Will this be your family room? It is important to be realistic about the wear and tear the fabrics on your seating will sustain. Have you thought about a more casual look for this stage of your life than velvet and have sturdy washable (and even bleachable) slipcovers made for a couch, loveseat and easy chair? This way you and your family and guests can enjoy your room and relax just as you want them to. Why not have a look at The Slipcover Maker on this website https://slipcovermaker.com/fabrics/  that I found just by chance. A well-made slipcover fits neatly and doesn't look sloppy at all.

Here's another unrelated thought, I don't know how long you plan to stay in this house, but sometimes people buy a sectional, and then when they move, or their needs change, the sectional doesn't fit the configurations of the next place they live or another room at all. And do people really want to squash themselves in the corner of the sectional? Maybe a sofa and a loveseat will do the same thing, or a sofa and two chairs, and a big ottoman besides. Just a thought.

If you do a light colored (washable in the washing machine!) slipcover you can have vivid throw pillows to mach your beautiful rug, and also coordinate your wall art.

Thanks loobab. I have thought about a slipcovered sofa but I always feel like they look sloppy. I should look to see if there is a very tailored look. We have a sofa where we can take the cover off the cushions at the moment which is okay, but I hesitate to wash the cushions very often because I wanted to avoid the color change between cushions and body of the sofa. Interesting points about the sectional - definitely something to take under consideration. And velvet is definitely my dream but probably unwise at this point. We are looking at some other more forgiving fabrics as well, though I keep sneaking back to feel up the velvets! ;) As for the rug, it is an inheritance. I have no information about it at all. I don't know anything about rugs, but the pattern seems not to be the usual, at least nothing like i've seen.

Katycat24 I could not agree more on slipcovered sofas. Based on the sofa styles you like I don't think slipcovers would be something you would do. Velvet is beautiful !

I've never understood slipcovers. To me they look very Walmarty. I hope this does not offend anyone, it's just my opinion.

Furniture upholstery is meant to last and endure spills and stains especially if you are not going for very light colours.

That's a great rug! I, too, think a deep teal would work very well. Perhaps pair it with a pair of oxblood leather armchairs? Below is just for color reference, not style.

That's an interesting idea, Manon - We have decided not to get a sectional so might have room for two chairs.
