olychick, thank you for taking a look. :) I'm relieved to hear you think a white shower pan is best. I am heading out now to find porcelain marble look tiles for the shower walls to pick up the gray as you suggested. I want a shiny finish to the walls. Tell me if you think that's a misstep. I am avoiding marble as I have a marble topped vanity now that is pock marked with etchings. As far as seeing myself in the vanity, yes, I think I will be able to do so. I was planning on a black framed mirror spanning the vanity. My current vanity is 32 1/4" high (as will be the new vanity) and when seated on my vanity stool my reflection is seen up to my chest. The only issue currently is that my knees are pressed against drawers. I failed to mention that I was thinking of using absolute black granite for the vanity top for two reasons: one being cost and the other being to avoid etching. Will doing so deviate too much from my inspiration? Lighter walls would be a good choice here. Sometimes darker colors are better for small bathrooms like powder rooms, but I think it would overwhelm your bathroom rather than making a statement. I would also go a bit lighter on the floors. Neither the wall nor floor covering has to be tile. Large-format porcelain slabs minimize grout lines which makes them a good choice for small spaces. However, they have a more modern feel that may or may not work for your house. The walnut has a more traditional feel than the oak, but both are versatile enough no matter what else you have in your home. If you go walnut, definitely go with floors that are more of a taupe/cream. I would try to look at them in person as you may have a personal preference. The other difference is push/pull to open/close vs drawer pulls. I personally prefer the feel of the latter, but it's a matter of what you're used to.

So, we've decided to get the West Slope light, it's OK and it's easy at this point. Now the decision is which size?? I've included a link to the fixture and am also attaching pics of a "mock up" in the room. We have some concerns about too busy/visually crowded for the intermediate size, but have to balance it against enough light, etc. The sink faucets are 39 inches apart (center to center) and we can't move them significantly because we're keeping the vanity (with new countertop). So what do you think about the 3 options? Are there any guidelines for vanity lights? The lights will be at the height of the current fixture. The mirror (just beveled/no frame) will sit under it. It's resting on countertop now. The house was built in 1999. There is a lot of wood throughout the house but the bedrooms and stairs are carpeted. The kitchen has a similar color in the cabinetry with black granite and is in keeping with that Tuscan-inspired vibe. I had originally wanted to redo the kitchen or at least have the cabinetry painted white but the cost just kept creeping up so in that project I am just changing the backsplash to white subway tile, adding a hood exhaust over the oven instead of the existing microwave, and painting the walls. We recently redid the master bedroom and it has a dark blue painted wall (Benjamin Moore Old Navy) and the bottom is wainscotting in Chantilly Lace with a four poster bed and heavy oak furniture (I will post a photo later).
