Dilemma: Exterior paint color to downplay pink/orange brick
Comments (15)I guess I didn't say that I am trying to deemphasize the brick. Not sure if you can tell from the photo but they are Roman style bricks, lacking the interesting dark colors and white stain of more traditional flat brick. It seems like blues and greys would make those bright pink and orange tones pop. My original thinking was white with dark accents. But I do like the dark exterior colors that are popular now. I worry that the dark colors will just make the bright pink/orange really stand out. Ultimately I guess I am looking for the house to look fresh without changing the good bones that it has. I am trying to embrace the look of the brick. Someone want to talk about how to tone down the brick without painting it?...See MoreExterior trim paint color to go with pink brick!
Comments (15)Similar to Emily's suggestion above I would start out with trim colors that are more similar to the hue your brick. You can either match one of the colors in the brick or go a little darker or lighter. This will give your house a consistent look that I feel will most likely subdue the red undertone. Contrasts have a good chance of playing up the red tones in the brick. The raw yellow color of the trim is showing you this right now. Going more gray or cool than the brick will likely do the same thing, playing up rather than playing down the pink undertones. A green might work by theory of complimentary colors, but you would need to try out a few to see what happens....See MoreHelp! What roof and exterior colors for pink brick?
Comments (5)Your house is lovely! I am no pro, but I have been looking to buy in a neighborhood of all brick homes. I think your home would look nice with a darker roof. I like shutters (I seem to be in the minority here on Houzz) and I would replace your existing shutters with something wider (like if you actually closed the shutters they’d cover the window entirely). It’s a beautiful home and I’d like to make you an offer 😂....See MoreExterior Paint Color for Pink Weeping Brick
Comments (32)Brown-gray (often called "weathered wood" is good, but BLUE or blue-gray is exactly what this house does NOT need. You don t want to see blue and pink fighting it out on your house - ughhhh. You need more analagous colors so the overall effect is they blend together and not so high contrast. Thats where browns or brown-grays comes in - the brick then reads more as a beige and the "pinkness" of it is de-emphasized, and overall effect is the two parts blend together more. I get that some of you for whatever reason dont like browns or natural brick colors, but this idea that if you pile on a contrasting color that you like ( blue-gray) that will make the pinkness go away - that's just not correct. It will do the opposite. OP youve prob already done this but searching on trim colors for pink brick will yield lots of options - at this point just be looking and see what catches your fancy, also since you have paint samples do paint out much larger panels so you can get a truer idea of how they will work....See MoreC Tripp
