Forest green roof shingles. Paint the front door a brighter color. The brown siding on the second floor should be a forest or hunter green as well as the shutters.

Are you painting the brick or just the siding/trim?

Love that brick - has a handsome stone like quality. Before deciding anything, get it cleaned thoroughly with a biocidal cleaner that is safe for masonry - you can see on the pic how much cleaner/brighter it is on the upper section vs lower down by the ground where dirt, mold and algae tends to accumulate, esp in the shaded areas. When you say roof is ":hickory" what color is that exactly, is that the color of new roof? C

I like all the colors you currently have, with the exception of the roof color, that does not go with the brown on the house. I would go for a dark brown roof, and keep the rest the same as it is. The brick, is very pretty.

I like the brick, if you want to brighten up the exterior, pick a better color for the siding and shutters. Sage green might be nice. Add some flowers to your landscaping.

@Susie . We are not painting the brick just the siding and trim.

@Debbie Downer. The roofing guy said the roof is "hickory." I forget what brand he said. I will have to double check. I have a few samples at the house. We were considering a "weathered wood" color which is a more standard chestnut brown.

Weathered wood is a very pretty roof, but, it is also variegated colors. It just could look a bit busy on your house. I would consider a solid color roofing in a brown.

I have a pink brick ranch style house that originally had dark brown trim like yours. Looked dark and gloomy with all the overgrown landscaping. I had the trim repainted SW Keystone Gray with soffits and facias in SW Agreeable Gray. Both have greenish undertones and work well with the pink.

The roof is Landmark Weathered Wood (which does not look busy to me).

Keystone and Agreeable do look good with the brick. They're actually more peach than green, but the warmth works with the pink. Weathered Wood doesn't appear busy to me either. There is some contrast but it it's not a lot of contrast. It is one of my favorite shingle color.

Some ideas of light color

The dark brown is the issue, get some lighter color and a pop of color on the shutters and door. also this house could use some inviting landscape.

To get rid of the high contrast, sharp delineation between brick and siding, the siding should blend in and be a midtone of same intensity as brick color.

Sometimes you can find a color scheme within the different color granules of your roof shingle - can you get a sample shingle or find a pic online. When you say "hickory," I guess that is some shade of brown but what kind of brown and if you look closely you can see not only different light and dark shades of brown, but some other colors as well maybe greens, blues, grays, golds. Within those you might find some options for siding, trim and doors.

Or do it the other way around - my last house I found a shingle that had both the greige + tans of the the first florr 100 yr old cement walls plus some of the mint green of the 2nd floor siding - the results I thought looked exceptionally well put together. When you have a prominent roof its color needs to be part of figuring out your comprehensive color scheme.

Here is a close up of the house with some of the paint samples we are considering (sorry for the horrible photo). Any ideas/thoughts? Also note this is still the original roof. I do plan on adding landscaping and changing the front doors to the glass ones just to give the place more life. The house will be pressure-washed today (more photos to follow soon).

First of all youll need to do much larger size panels (once you settle on a couple of contenders). Then you can move them around and view at different times of day, different weather conditions. I likethe ones on the right - slightly darker/heavier than those on the left (which may read as white on large scale ) and colorwise more in sync with the brick I think but without being too matchy. The second from the right seems ever so slightly darker/grayer which means it will recede more, while the brick comes forward - I like that.... but you dont want to go too dark or gray because that will again emphasize the contrast between different materials.

The swatches have to much pink undertone. the left side is the best one in my opinion

Ash Hall, My roof was Landmark CertainTeed shingles in Weathered Wood. While I did have sample shingles to put next to the brick, I used this template to compare the paint, brick and shingle colors when I was first deciding. I use Photoshop but there are free graphic programs you can try. That is from a photo of my brick plus paint and roof samples I copied from websites.

Here is the a picture of the roof sample along with the two paints. The top is PPG1073-5 (Tanglewood) and the bottom paint is PPG1073-4 (Pubelo). I do plan to use SW paints.

Why are you going with a brown roof again?

@RL Relocation LLCI am open to changing it. The current roof color is Rustic Slate. We are considering weathered wood. The house has several mature trees and is positioned across from a lake so I feel we will need a darker roof.

What color do you suggest?

I’m not usually a fan of grey, but that’s what this house needs. Not to offend, but the paint samples you show seem to be the same color as the brick, which will yield a two-story block of salmon mousse!

Gustaviatex showed a nice assortment of greys. Others submitted great colors, too. I agree with the comments suggesting nothing too deep, complimentary color on the trim, etc. Blue-grey?

I think gray is the best option for a pink house. The brick should be your #1 item to work with, not the trees or the lake. It’s like finding a hat to work with your coat. Don’t jump back into brown. Brown-gray (often called "weathered wood" is good, but BLUE or blue-gray is exactly what this house does NOT need. You don t want to see blue and pink fighting it out on your house - ughhhh. You need more analagous colors so the overall effect is they blend together and not so high contrast. Thats where browns or brown-grays comes in - the brick then reads more as a beige and the "pinkness" of it is de-emphasized, and overall effect is the two parts blend together more.

I get that some of you for whatever reason dont like browns or natural brick colors, but this idea that if you pile on a contrasting color that you like ( blue-gray) that will make the pinkness go away - that's just not correct. It will do the opposite.

OP youve prob already done this but searching on trim colors for pink brick will yield lots of options - at this point just be looking and see what catches your fancy, also since you have paint samples do paint out much larger panels so you can get a truer idea of how they will work.

I vote no to a brown roof.

I think you will find that most color experts recommend a gray roof with brick that reads pink. Gray is not my favorite color, but it can be a very versatile neutral when used properly. Blue gray is probably not the best one, but I think a more neutral gray paired with warm, light neutrals would work best on Ash's home.

The accent color on this seems to be the same as the mortar color (and very close to Agreeable Gray as gustaviatex used:

The light sage green on this is pretty as an accent with a gray roof. Green would emphasize the pink since they are complements, but it would also pick up the greenery in the landscaping.

Here is the FINAL product! The house was pressure washed and then painted with SW paint to color match PPG 1073-5 (Tanglewood). Shutters are SW Black Bean. New glass pane doors added and I went with the burnt hickory roof. I still have to finish landscaping and then tackle the interior of the house.

can you take on shot of the whole front? Also I would expand your garden bed to encompass some of the sidewalk.
