Advice please on how to utilize the space in our living room? Or make
Comments (12)I'd center a sofa table under the window, with either some plants or lamps on it, and then push the sofa up against it. With all of those built-ins, you've got ideal toy storage, game storage, blanket storage, more than enough storage, and even better, it is behind doors. Once the couch is pushed back, you can experiment with the chairs, either flanking the fireplace, or flanking the couch. It's hard to tell what exactly will work best from the photos. Are those vertical blinds on the large window? We have a window very similar to that. Our home came with vertical blinds on the picture window that drove me bananas! We replaced the blinds with a single solar shade that rolls up and down with a chain; so much better! Our couch sits up against the window and we can now close the shades without climbing on the couch. (Pictures here.) You could do stationary curtain panels on each side of the windows. I like your paint and trim colors. It looks like you might be gravitating more toward lighter, brighter colors, so you could paint the built-ins white and lighten the space (the wood will be more forgiving of little ones, though...)...See MorePlease share your advice/opinion! Comments (14)If it was my room I would get the chairs in a light blue. But you have to get what suits you. I also want to buy furniture that I have sat in and know that I find comfortable. But lots of people order online. It's up to you. I would look for swivel chairs that I like and look at the fabric options. Just now I looked online and didn't find a lot besides solid neutrals which I think would be very hard to be sure would work with your sofa. Macy's is having some good sales on their Quick Ship items but they can't be returned to the store, have to be shipped back. I would look at stores in your area to really see what you are getting. blue chair at Macy's blue chair at overstock Wayfair swivel chair...See MoreLiving Room Advice Please
Comments (8)That looks so much better. To 'finesse' this new look, I would add a generous sized area rug with rich accent colors to use in couch pillows and other accents. If you decide to repaint the walls, you can use the accent rug as color inspiration for that as well. I also think an accent chair angled from the corner near the nook with that has the large potted plant would balance out the two sofas. I would choose a large square coffee table in a dark wood that would echo the feel of the sofa table. I have used the following sources to purchase affordable area rugs, pictures, etc: At Home (used to be Garden Ridge Pottery), Hobby Lobby, Kirklands, Joss and Main, Overstock, Wayfair, and Birch Lane. Some people have a lot of luck with Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. Your home is lovely, and you are making it lovelier. Good luck!...See MoreFlo Mangan
