Comments (24)Hey MrLike2u... Yes its has been awhile since I had the NBC...It was given to me from one of my girlfriends...she actually divided the whole plant and repotted it for me...I guess that it was in so much shock that it took several years for it to bloom...But the last time that it did bloom, I had about 20 flowers...I even had to call out for my trip...it was that important for me to see them bloom that night!! (I work for the airlines) but thankfully, the scheduler loves plants too!!! So she resheduled my trip by two days!! So I did get to see the magic that night!!! SO when I lost the plant...i was really bummed...needless to say that the Mr/Mrs that donated it to me was a kind person..and I certainly am thankful... The fragrance is hard to describe to some..but the ones that have had the pleasure of witnessing this ....is priceless!!! Did you understand what i as trying to explain earlier in the post about you saying that you could see something? "prior agreements will always be respected..." Thank you for the compliments on the screens!!! They are a little large for me... But I will be excited to get started...They are 3/8 1/4 and I need to find the 1/8 or insect screen...that will be on the list to do tomorrow!!! I will definately keep them dry... Question? Where can I find the covered screen that i see others cut into small squares to cover the bottom of the holes in the pots? It looks like its plastic or something like that...Any ideas? The only thought that comes to mine at the moment is needlepoint or crossstitch netting...Thanks for any help!! Hope all is well up north!!! Take care everyone... Comments (16)David, not to be contrary, but the actual certificate/registration part of ENERGY STAR is $50. The rest of that is the time and effort of the person doing the plan reviews, on-site verification and testing. You can't do the ENERGY STAR quality work without those parts. And if you are going to go through that effort, why not spend the $50 and get the certificate that shows you did? The issue with builders doing ENERGY STAR work without the third-party verification is some of the builders, get it and are doing that, others think they are and are not and others are just slapping in ENERGY STAR appliances and HVAC and calling it done.... So how does the average joe know whats's what? That certificate. The same could be said of building permits. It is just a piece of paper. Why should I spend 2+% of the job on it? I know what I am doing.... The sad part is that many more builders think they are doing a great job then actually are. I say this as a builder of 20 years who has built some very good houses. But since I have understood the building science concepts behind ENERGY STAR. I am using my money more wisely, spending the same and getting better results. It is very easy to exceed ENERGY STAR standards here in the Southeast, but not often done because buyers and appraisers like granite countertops and banks lend you money for them. Increased insulation? high quality HVAC? you'll have to squeeze that in the budget. So what the certificate can do is give the bank and the appraiser a 'they did that' item, which they can attach value to - that makes it happen sometimes, but not always. Find the right bank, and they are willing to lend for an Energy Efficient Mortgage (EEM) or an Energy Improvement Mortgage (EIM) those go through the same process as ENERGY STAR (in fact adopted the process for their program) but those products are geared to existing homes! Comments (7)Since you are new to our country, my thought is to ask you about the type of ownership you have. If you truly own the town home from your curb to the back of the lot, the advice you have gotten above works fine. However, if the unit is a condominium or co-operative, things are handled differently. In that case, you probably do not fix a roof problem yourself, you would report it to the condo board or manager, or someone like that because in a condo, you only own what is inside your walls, not the structure itself. A cooperative is likely more complicated than a condo....See MoreIdeas needed on how to paint attic guest room?
Comments (32)Kippy - thanks for the suggestion but the really pales and anything greenish just does not work in this house as much as I like them. I had a story board with 12-15 colors painted on it; a 3 X 5 foot piece of drywall, I carted that thing all over the house and NOTHING looked good. especially in the natural light. Everything just ended up looking gray anyway or washed out. I was so disappointed but did find that Simply White worked and a medium gray, the Sparrow, and a light silver. Annie I love all those rooms and my first choice would be like the first room you posted. The Weathered White looks similar in my house. I was going to paint my walls in the bath, the gray for my SIL, but have now decided to tile everything. Maybe just do the one sloped ceiling in the bath the darker gray? Everything else white tile? Rory- WOW hold everything!!! I used to wallpaper everything...;) Linelle you are so right about how light changes colors. I can't really do greens so much and since we are on a bare naked hill it is all sky. I think that's why the silvery grays work for this house. I think I will just wait til I prime everything and then paint the room in weathered white. I have lots of that paint left over. I will take pictures and post here. Once we get the tile finished in the bath and maybe do the one sloped ceiling in there in Sparrow and see what you think....See Moresuezbell
