Locked out of my Facebook Account

I tried to sign into my Facebook as usual and all of a sudden it says I am locked out! I never post anything even slightly controversial and I was not involved in any arguments etc. with anyone. My last picture was of a rhubarb pie I baked!! I am totally mystified about it all. There was a process to follow if you wanted a review for a reinstatement and I followed it but then they have a sentence saying because of the Pandemic there are too few stuff to do the reviews!! Wow! Has this happened to anyone else?

Which browser were you using? Have you tried a different browser? If no, try Google Chrome.

I tried chrome, and Edge and Moxilla and nothing works.

unfortunately no Mike it could be enemies or those frienimies that once were friends and are no longer, often times they would do things like that simply because they can and they know it would be upsetting. Those people likely would not honor a request to please not do that. Or people that just get off on being A-holes they seem to be abundant. Also some people have been in groups or clubs etc and are no longer part of them, pictures of groups end up and not everyone in the group pic said it was ok to plaster their image every where. In fact I have been in pictures as a by stander and found my pic, had no idea it was there was never asked to be in a picture or to have it posted. Used to they had to ask permission to use your pictures and get signed release forms. Not to mention just being the polite thing to do. the thing about facebook is the opt out feature not opt in which makes if a bit different ballgame.

They have a minimum age limit. Maybe you're not old enough yet ? Make a new email account at your favorite online free email company, Try again - lie about your age, all the kids do that - lots of older kids these days in 5th and 6th grades. 20 and more years old even. I guess schools don't have a maximum age limit :)

You can report it to FB as spam. Just hover your mouse over it until you see a little drop-down icon. Click on that and then click on Report Story or Spam. Never click on actual posts that look like spam...just hit Report in the drop-down icon.

Did you go directly to your Facebook login page, or did you get an email that said you were locked out and you clicked on a link in that email?

Okay...that's what I hoped. Perhaps you realized why I asked: there are a lot of scam and phishing emails that claim your account is locked and they steal your credentials when you attempt to log in using the "handy" link they provide.

Never had that happen. If it said your account was disabled and you filled out the form for reinstatement you will just have to wait for Facebook to let you in again. Mary

My first thought was that perhaps someone (you or a hacker) had tried unsuccessfully to login your account "n" times and your account was temporarily disabled.

But...

"There was a process to follow if you wanted a review for a reinstatement ... "

That makes me think that they (Facebook) thinks you may have violated their terms of usage.

Of course, if your account was hacked, it could have been the person that hacked your account that violated the terms.

Unfortunately, I think Mary is right. Nothing to do but file for a review and wait. Maybe the review process is just slower than usual, rather than non-existent.

Well my Facebook page magically reappeared 24 hours after it was suspended! I still have no idea what happened but I am glad its back!!!

Richard from what I know if their account was truly disabled by Facebook then they will see a disabled message when trying to log in so pretty sure if it was hacked she wouldn't see that message. If hacked it just gets taken over and email changed so you can't log in, but anything is possible. Maybe it got flagged in error or maybe someone took offense to rhubarb pie. Please update if face book gives the account back. Mary

Great. If you filled out all the paperwork they probably investigated and saw nothing of violation there or it was simply an error. My eBay got hacked at 1am the other day. Called immediately and they got my control back. Made my password much stronger and enabled 2 step verification and so far so good. Thankfully nothing was charged. Changed my PayPal password too. Mary
