Deep window seat that can expand into a twin bed
Comments (5)Is this the type of window seat you have now? We had a long dormer in our Virginia house, and we wanted to do this type of bed, but we ended up selling and moving before we could do a project like this. Link below gets you thinking outside the box. There are even ottomans that hold a bed. There are metal frames you can purchase then fold up, store under seat. Think of other ways you can accomplish this task other than the one you are thinking of. This might free your mind to solve your design dilemma! Comments (12)The picture marked version 2 I like the open hallway and stairs and bedroom placements with closets buffering the bathroom noise best. You are also able to get large furniture into the master bedroom. In the other unmarked version I'm not sure how you are going to get any large furniture in trying to turn that corner. In both though I think the master bath/closet could use some re-work. I don't like the access in the one marked version2 for the closet as you have to walk around from the bathroom through the master to get to the closet. However I'm not liking the other option either with two openings as it is wasting closet space. I'm thinking there has to be some other options available for the space too....See MoreTwin beds against wall with an off-center window
Comments (3)For single adults and/or for kids? So for guests? In that case - perhaps not being closely related - I wouldn't want my twin bed to be sooo close to the other bed. How about having one bed on each side of the room under those climbing walls the second photo shows? And then a desk like table from wall to wall with one comfortable chair under that window with the two parts so close together. In that case it is not a problem either if the beds are sticking out a bit. On the desk a nice desk lamp and a stack of interesting magazines. Be sure to have lots of outfits for all those laptops, tablets and cell phones to be charged. Above the long wall of the beds, so on each side, a long shelf, to put up some fun short story books and art. Under each shelf a small lamp on the wall for some in-bed reading. Nice rug to make it look even more cozy. Be sure to put something up on at least one window to keep mosquitos out, so one can have fresh air in the room without being bitten. A few of those in the room can destroy any sleepover. I'd say that window on the first picture would be fine for that....See More6' w by 2' h window above bed. How to cover? Attractive & practical
Comments (13)All of your comments have been so helpful! I am now completely re-thinking the idea of drapes and looking instead probably at some type of shades. The photo right above this post is exactly the situation we have (not such an elegant room, however). That roller shade in the photo that calidesign posted looks nice, clean and simple. However, I don't quite understand the part about "use a simple roller shade with controls on the side." Is this a reference to some sort of electronic control, or does it mean that the pull device that is usually in the middle of a shade is instead mounted at the side of the shade? Thanks much to all!...See Morejck910
