Comments (1)Yea, it is a subscription service. You can use the one subscription on three computers. I use it here on xp and it seldom requires any attention. It just does its own things silently in the background. Every now and then you will see a bubble saying its up to date. Updates itself automatically and frequently....See MoreDr Web anti-virus link checker question
Comments (3)an alternative for you with old versions of windows is the Kaspersky Rescue Disc. This is a version of the very well known Kaspersky virus scan which runs from a cd, you put it in your cd drawer then boot up the pc so it boots from the cd, you then run the virus scan from the cd. It works with all versions of windows. The thing is that you have to have a cd burner on your pc that will burn an ISO disc, if you don't there are free ones available. You have to go burn the latest version of the disc each time you want to run your scan so that you know you have the latest virus definitions. This is also handy for those that can not get into their windows to run a scan, you can usually boot the pc from the cd even when you can not boot into windows. This is just for running a scan this does NOT provide any type of real time protection at all this just lets you run a scan on your pc with out installing any programs. It would be much better to find some type of real time protection that still works on 98. Here is the link Kaspersky Rescue Disk You download the ISO file to your pc then you take that ISO file and burn it to a cd using the ISO burn setting. YOU must use the ISO setting in your burner. AN ISO file is an image file and will not work unless burned as such. link to info on the free isoburner if you should need it ISO Burner check your current cd burner it probably does do ISO burning most of the major ones like nero etc do....See MoreComputer virus question
Comments (10)Well, I didn't click on any link or popup I simply copied and pasted the URL into the address box. I ran Adaware just in case, and everything is just fine. I googled the website domain and found a lot of discussion circulating across the internet, but nothing definitive. Most of the comments were from people using Firefox. No one could specifically identify any trouble actually created from the link, just a lot of buzz and speculation about it. However, I do think it's good advice not to click on any popup....See MoreKaspershy Anti Virus is now suspect re Russia
Comments (33)To show I'm not being doctrinaire or stubborn, I'll contribute another layer to this story (if it is a story), a Washington Post piece (with a link to another in the NY Times) that suggest it was Israeli intelligence officers who discovered incriminating American NSA materials were present in Kaspersky's internal network during an unauthorized access to its systems. The reporting remains somewhat disjointed enough that I'm not ready to remove my hands from my hips or abandon my "wait for better info" thoughts but here it is. Part of what doesn't make sense to me is that Kaspersky made public the breach when it happened and gave details about it as one of its periodic security releases. That's not at all what might be expected from an entity acting as a front for a sovereign intelligence service that would be trading blows with the intelligence services of other countries in the normal course of daily business. Unless, that was part of an attempt at misdirection to disguise deliberate Kaspersky involvement, by acting naively. Who knows? Israeli intelligence discovered Kaspersky in possession of NSA material...See More- 6 years ago
