What are you quilting this weekend? 4/24-25/10
Comments (18)I was still in Ireland without my machine or any hand work but I did find the largest quilt shop in Ireland!!! It was so great to take a little getaway for myself and just meander among the fabrics. The owner, Maeve was just divine and we chatted away for a few hours as I floated around the shop. Most of the fabric was American so much of it I have or had seen already. What was fabulous was finding a few older American fabrics that are sold out everywhere on the internet but I was able to find among the hidden treasures of her shelves!!! I did pay dearly since the dollar isn't so great and they are imported fabrics over there. Some of them were $18-19 a yard!!! It was worth it for the unobtainable ones!!! I did find some domestic fabric in pink and purples (purples are my favs) that was very loud on the bolt but looked pretty in the pinwheel quilt she had hanging up so I took home a kit!! After 2 cups of tea, and wonderful conversation I left with my treasures, along with a great little reusable tote with her logo and shop info on it. I only wish I would have taken my camera with me. I will take pics of my goodies when I get home from work today, I was too exhausted last night after unpacking and starting laundry!!...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Oct. 25-27
Comments (25)Valerie, I tried doing the binding by machine in the past, but I didn't like the way it looked.... I only used the straight stitch though (but the machine had 294 stitches.... I don't even know how many the Nina has).... Maybe I'd like it better with decorative stitches. I should google some pictures of binding with decorative stitches and see how they look... I just don't like crowds and lines so that is the primary reason I avoid going to the Food and Wine Festival... it was fun the first time! For anyone who follows Bonnie Hunter's blog, did you see that beautiful vintage two tone New Home Paragon straight stitch machine that one of the ladies who took her class had? It was one of the most beautiful machines I think I've ever seen! I think I've really got quilt fever now because I'm starting to notice quilt patterns in floor tiles!...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Jan. 6-8, 2017
Comments (14)I may get into the sewing room for a bit tomorrow. I'll post a pic of the lap quilt I finished in the nick of time last weekend. I'm still quilting one of the Lotto winnings wall hanging. I know it's been forever since I received the blocks. I decided to stipple, something I've never done, with matching thread color in the blocks, so it is start and stop to change the thread. Freezing cold here also, but drove an hour (in unexpected almost white out conditions) to see the traveling display of the Downtown Abbey clothes. Then had lunch at the Studebaker mansion next door. It was a lovely day....See More"Hostage Situation" quilt finish - Installment 5
Comments (16)I took 60 masks over to the nursing home yesterday. I thought I was finished but I found another pack of elastic at the back of the draWer and now I have enough for another two dozen. After my afternoon rest, I shall have at it. I am thinking these masks are not for medical folks, so the wire isn't as necessary. And anyway, I don't have anything I could use. Theresa...See Morepolardream
