Are you quilting this weekend? Jan. 4-6
Comments (29)Rita, you've finished a 2ND postage stamp top? You are now officially my hero! I've been saving scraps, trimming, and sewing blocks for a couple of years now in hopes that I'll one day have enough done to put together one postage stamp quilt. I think it's just amazing that you've finished two! MLinda, I'm with you. I just printed off the tutorial for those granny squares and might make a block today. So far this weekend I've finished and packaged up two birthday blocks for the exchange. The first was a magic tricks block, and the other was quilters choice done in blue, so I made one of blue strips going various ways in sets, framed in more blue. The next two blocks for the birthday exchange are basic star patterns, so I think I'm going to get ahead of the game and make those today. Then I want to work on my sister's lonestar quilt, which I had to start all over because the points came out a bit wonky in my first attempt. That wasn't a total loss though, thankfully! I'm going to use it to make pillows, which will coordinate with the quilt. Look at me sewing like a rock star! (yep, I love watching Anne Burrell on the foodnetwork) Yesterday I bought a new-to-me sunflower-themed table runner kit while at a local quilting shop, so depending on how the day progresses, I may get into that as well. And of course, now that Sandra has me interested in the granny squares, I may try that one out today as well! Good thing I'm off and able to relax today, eh? Lol! -Dan...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? June 6-8
Comments (14)Since I finished my latest quilt this past week, I'm taking a break to decide on what next. This past weekend I decided I HAD to paint the two wooden rockers on the front porch, it had been almost ten years ago that I painted them. They were white and I decided on the complete opposite, a very dark, almost black blue to match a metal bench that we have our there also. Well, I bought what said it was primer and paint in one. I painted, I repainted, and again, and again, and then hit some areas AGAIN. Don't ever think that one coat will do, not when you go that much opposite in color. But they look great. Linda, when we moved in 2005 I bawled like a baby the last time I went out the front door of the house we had lived in for 35 years. My son was born and raised there and many other events, both happy and sad had gone on there. But the neighborhood had gone very sour, congestion, traffic, crime, gang violence, we had to leave. And we had so much stuff. But moving into a brand new place made us really look at all this stuff and once the excess was finally dispensed with it was like a heavy burden had been lifted, now even though we've been here almost 10 years, there are still entire walls with no pictures on them because it's such a nice, peaceful clean slate. And no, I don't ever want to move again but I know that there will come a time when we can't take care of all this property anymore, so I'm trying to keep that in mind and enjoy it while I can, we only live once and at my age although the days go by slow the years just fly by....See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Comments (11)Poor Linda is going to Hawaii. lol Hope you and Lois have a chance to get together. She is good at 'helping' you find fabric to buy. :-) Theresa, Enjoy having your family with you and the birthday celebration. We all know family comes before sewing. I'll probably be sewing......catching up on this and that BOM and working on the Zelda Candle. I have a couple quilt tops needing borders, so will see about those and maybe get a small one sandwiched. DD and her DH are off to Bike week in Daytona on their new motorcycles, so we won't be doing anything with them. Guess it's just me, the machine and college basketball for tomorrow. Ok, maybe I'll sweep off the front porch, too. :-)...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Nov. 6-8
Comments (3)Ok...so, now things are a little backwards, but the photo is the result of my 'shopping spree' in my sister's sewing room. 30+ yards, my guess, plus an 8 piece set of gorgeous fat quarters (lower left corner of photo) in my fav Civil War motif! Wowza!! no quilting. BUT! we are going to my neice's 25th wedding anniversary party...how crazy is that????? And, while we are in town for that, my sister has invited me to 'shop' in her sewing room!! WooooHooooo.....that could be DANGER for her!!! She's the best 'Quilty Sister' you could have, tho.....she is ALWAYS giving me wonderful gifts....like my Huski sewing machine, for instance!! ...or maybe a cool ruler or the best pair of scissors!! fabric.....cutting mats??? oh my gosh... she's awesome. PattyH from Ocala. Yup.. The BEST Quilty Sister....See Morenannykins
