Hunter Pro C Pop-Up Popped Up For No Reason

I was standing on the porch petting my dog and appreciating the cool Spring weather in Texas when out of nowhere, one of my sprinkler heads popped up and sprayed water for about 1 second and went back down :o It can't go down that fast if I was controlling it with the remote. Did other sprinkler heads on that station pop up too? I can't say for sure but I don't think so. No one else was home. The sprinkler remote was in the house. I live in the country with no neighbors so there are no neighborhood kids that could have done this. I'm on community well water. Pressure is good. I don't know if this has ever happened before but it's the first time I've seen it. Can anyone explain what might have caused it?

sometimes a fluctuation in the system water pressure can cause a valve to partially open before resealing.

Well I guess this sounds about as good (better) than anything I can come up with ;) We've had so much rain this spring, I haven't even used the system this year. Thank you for your reply.

oh come on now! She must've been smokin something. I've seen lots of deer lately on the side of the road and they ignore my car and keep eating except for the babies. We have coyotes and recently spotted Black bear. There are a few deer that cross over each evening from one side of the road to the other every night. They killed one baby oak a couple years ago, but there is so much other land around they moved on, thank goodness. In the summer the dogs would announce their arrival by the neighbors pond before the deer crossed the road as it started to get dark.

I'd recommend convert the whole zone over to drip (cap all the other heads) and pipe over new heads from neighboring zones to compensate where you lost a needed head. it's really a bad idea to have drip and other sprinklers on the same zone. if you kept some of the spray heads, likely you would have severe over watering where those were, and/or under watered drip areas. you would risk blowing the fittings off your drip, or having your heads not rise, or potentially both.
