sectional sofa help
Comments (5)I have a purple (!) microsuede slip-covered sectional;about 10 years old. I was leery at purchase time b/c it was not at all what I'd imagined, but it has been wonderful. It cleans easily with a wet paper towel (until it's time to toss the slips into the washer), dog fur vacuums off easily, and it is soft and cozy but still stays tidy looking. The brand is Rowe (which does not have terrific online reviews ) but we've been very happy with it. The slips fit tightly and the purple color doesn't look crazy with my other furniture. The one problem is that the pieces do not fasten together well....See MorePottery Barn Cameron Sofa or Sectional Reviews?
Comments (20)I've had the Cameron Slipcovered square arm sofas (86" with sleeper and 60"). They have held up well and are still comfortable after 6 years (purchased 2016). We have two boys and their neighborhood friends hang out on them. I'm sure a soccer ball has been kicked into them hundreds of times. I chose the Performance Tweed on Slate. I love it. It's gray with a hint of blue and is easy to coordinate with. Very few signs of wear and nothing stains it. My cat peed on it the first week and the cushion batting didn't absorb it and the covers washed beautifully. I've put all of it in the washer numerous times. I even put it in the dryer on low heat and it looks great and doesn't shrink. No issues getting it back on. I do not fluff the pillows or move around cushions like you are supposed to do. The only signs of wear are the saggy back cushions. Expected after 6 years. Might be able to buy filler for them? We purchased them because they were more petite in size, which we needed in our last house. I do want a deeper sofa now but can't find anything that makes me ready to purchase. Although they are shallow seats (20"), my feet touch the ground and it works well if you are seated and taking to someone. My-in-laws and short mom like the upright feel. Not great to cozy up with my kids and watch a movie. I tend to lay on the long one and my husband sits on the short one and likes the height of the arm. It's just wide enough for a remote or phone. I'm considering the C&B Gather and Ethan Allen Spencer (I'm limited in dimensions). C&B has weird fabrics and I'm not sure if the Spencer will be cozy....See MoreWHAT FABRIC & COLOR SECTIONAL SOFA FOR THIS RENTAL HOME FAMILY ROOM?
Comments (13)Thanks for the great tips. Yes, it's a good point that 16 won't be sitting at the same time...more like 12 or so. Sadly, I have to go fairly dark due to the cleaning and staining issues. I should have added that I plan to add a large 12 x 15 area rug to break up the dark sofas from the darkish wood. I can't go with medium gray because it will look too "matchy-matchy" with the med. gray stone fireplace. Quick question/concern...I searched for sofas that are made from "Sunbrella" people here suggested and there are only a few and they are outdoor sofas. Mostly, the Sunbrella fabric is pillows. Also, I'll be removing both sofa tables behind the sofas that are there now, so that will give me another~ 4+ feet. But I still plan on putting more narrow sofa tables as I don't want the sofas right up against the walls, so it will be more like an extra 2 feet I'll be gaining. Any other suggestions for a "tough" fabric that won't be torn easily? We've had issues with guests sitting on the sofas, etc., with keys, etc, in their back pockets that tear the fabric or snag it. What are opinions on leather? Vinyl? Also, I'd like to lighten up the room with a cleaner, more modern white (ish) paint, maybe with a touch of gray, )but not with any blue or "pink" in it.) The walls are now painted Sherwin-Williams "Accessible Beige" and the Doors (not seen in the pictures are "Dovetail"...which I LOVE, but is way too dark for the walls. I've already gone down the line of the "Dovetail" paint strip and the lighter colors look kinda "pink-ish" in that room.) Thanks again everyone...See MoreL-Shaped Sectional
