Comments (2)I don't know what kind of wireless distance, video resolution, field of view, and outdoor weather resistance you are looking for, but I think about as close as you are going to get may be one of the Panasonic IP video cameras. Wireless that uses the typical analog or digital signal and 2.4 GHz camera/receiver setup is often unusable in many if not most indoor and virtually all outdoor applications. IP based with a wireless network buys you a little more range but are still not very reliable. As far as solar powered, I have not seen a packaged system yet but a solar panel/battery system to power the camera could probably be put together for a couple hundred dollars in materials. Internet accessibility is typical on IP cameras for network/internet use and most always include free DNS website service. While viewing over the internet should be operating system agnostic, I have seen some that would only display on IE and not FireFox on a PC....See MoreHome automation/audio/security help
Comments (3)I looked into control 4 for my house, because I liked the idea of the system and that they purport it's cheaper than some of the other integrated system. For me, it didn't work that way, and my quote was around 30k for the stuff I wanted. Another thing I really didn't like about control4 was that you needed a service call from a reseller technician every time you want to change something about the system. I ended up going with a Legrand Unity system which does very similar stuff, albeit the touchscreen remote stuff isn't as cool, but I still have an LCD screen that integrates cameras, thermostat, intercom, and whole house audio. Speaker wise, I would say 2 speakers is what I would do for that size room, but speakers don't have to be expensive. I bought a variety of types, and settled on Polk 620RT, which look and sound very nice. That being said I bought some cheap Micca speakers off amazon and I think they sound really good; excellent for the price. I'm very happy with my Netgear Nighthawk AC router for $200 (or less on sale). Have them run one of those many cat 6's to two distributed places in the house and you'll be good. If you have to go w/more than 1 router and want it more integrated, I'd suggest Ubiquiti UniFi AC Enterprise WiFi System (on amazon). Cheaper than Luxul and I've heard very good things. -adam...See MoreKitchen Cabinets//trim: BM Advance Color + Recommended Primer
Comments (55)" I've read BIN is great stuff but tricky to apply with a brush/roller." You've read the wrong thing. BIN is so easy a child could paint it on. Very thin, sands to powder - it's a fabulous primer. Goes on easy with a brush. My cabs were knotty pine, I had no option but to use BIN, and it did the trick. I used Advance paint, no wood grain shows through. Use several thin coats for the best results. I used a brush - no need to spray. TSP substitute works great - no rinsing needed. I also used a deglosser. Deglossers are NOT a subsitute for sanding - don't fall for that nonsense. Clean/sand FIRST, then wipe down, and apply the deglosser. Certainly you don't sand after (don't know why anyone would think that!). It just provides more adhesion for paint. Can't emphasize how important the sanding is. Prep is EVERYTHING for a good paint job. It's a lot of work, but totally worth it....See Morehome security company advice
Comments (4)I would find a local smaller company. Drive around and look for their signs on your neighbor's lawns. Ask neighbors for recommendations. In my area I use a local company whose owner used to be in law enforcement. I prefer local than going to a larger nationwide company like ADT....See Morelorienrock
