Whale! Always a thrill to see. I saw this one on my trip to Alaska. We were on a small wooden yacht that had been converted for cruises. Seven guests and four crew. Because it was so small, it could go into smaller places and get very close to the wildlife. The captain had stopped the boat and was playing "Rainbow Connection" through speakers. He said the whales liked that song and he was right!! A number of them came around and some came up. It was thrilling!

Thanks Nicole and JTC for the ID. I didn't realize there were varieties that would hang that like, around here I normally see erect plants that are 2' tall. How stunning in a basket.

Maire look for trailing Lobelia usually in cellpack in various blues pink white. Also a tall upright one you are familiar with.

Whale is what I have to offer today as well. We saw this one's tail on a whale watching excursion in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. We didn't get as close as murraysmom, but it was such a thrill just to see a whale.

We just got back from a Hawaiian cruise and a group of whales joined us as we left port at one of the islands. They swam alongside and in front of the ship, leaping (breaching) out of the water, blowing and splashing. They stayed with us until the captain blew the horn; word was he wanted them to move away to avoid having any of them injured by swimming too close to the ship. What a show they gave us!

Yes, this has been fun. If we're going to do a repeat, I'm going to start collecting photos of things that start with 'X'!

Interesting to see what people came up with for "W". I did not think of wildflowers or windows, and now those seem obvious. I did think of waterlilies and have quite a few photos of those, however. Waterfall is probably my favorite, and I wish I had had a camera when I visited the waterfalls along the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon many decades ago.

I am especially interested in seeing what people will post for "X", which for me is an easy one. I've been in Palm Springs and Cathedral City for nine days now, and so I've had to use photos that I stored on Dropbox, which is not that many. We're going back to L.A. tomorrow.

White kittens.

(Several years ago, I had 4 cats neutered for an old lady who lived down the bayou from me. I also gave her catfood for them. She died and her boyfriend was being evicted. He moved off and left the cats. So I brought them here when I moved, and put them in the office. But someone had dumped a pregnant white cat there too, and I brought her. I had to put her inside for the time being. She had 5 white kittens. They each have a little blue smudge on their heads. These are the white kittens, plus a few others.)

Raven, that waterlily is Wanvisa also. It changes in tone. Sometimes a bloom will be part orange and part yellow, even. I loved seeing another "rendition" of it.
