What color would look best in this kitchen?
Comments (13)Thank you Linda!!! My husband is painting right now!! It looks awesome--a rich brown, Eddie Bauer corkboard--OMG, it looks amazing so far (first coat), i had knots in my stomach about this color all day- i was so unsure. WOW... I will be sure to post pics when it is done--we also decided to do the travertine backsplash above the cabinets, so it looks like the whole wall is 'bricked'.. thanks for all your help!...See MoreWhat would look best in MY kitchen?
Comments (23)I'm glad you included photos of the adjoining rooms. You have a lovely home with lots of character. I love the arched doorways & that pretty hallway. With the interest of your adjoining rooms & your dark wood floors, I think you can pull off all white cabinets, a white island & white countertops. Add glass uppers as suggested above and a new backsplash. The wetbar appears to be separated from the kitchen? If yes, I'd consider something totally different with the wetbar - not sure what. A countertop microwave wouldn't bother me & you have a nice corner for it. I have white perimeter countertops & white cabinets. I don't find that it's too much white with accessories & backsplash. I have a second larger white island that separates the kitchen from the family room (you have your wood table & chairs). Even though it has more detailed moldings & a beautiful dark walnut top, I much prefer the look of the white top on the other island. That was a total surprise to me because I put a lot of thought into the design of the wood topped island. Are you planning to add a hood above your cooktop? I am also a big fan of the "weird tiny windows." You've got a great space for your dream white kitchen....See MoreNeed options for flooring for my kitchen/dining/living area.

Comments (6)I would not do the open shelves and just run the glass dor cabinets across the back wall around the window and then the lowers as you show. I assume you are planning to paint the old cabinets and if that is the case I would do anew cabinet to match the one on the other side of the range and then begin the glass door ones into the DR . That makes the DR another space visually . I see you are changing the island too that is a good idea. Any more help will need a to scale floor plan of the whole space showing the window doorways where those lead and done on graph paper . We need every measurement clearly marker the drawing posted here in jpeg format and DO NOT start another post...See MoreBridget Makk
