Which sink should I choose?
Comments (11)Thanks so much for all who have replied. So, stainless it is. It really helps to have the imput of others, someone else to look at something to give an opinion. I've seen so many beautiful fireclay sinks on this forum that I love, but when trying to find one there was none that would fit my existing hole so the next best thing I thought would be cast iron, but it seems that the consensus is that a white cast iron would be too much white with my white countertops. So, I will go ahead with the stainless. Thank you! Now the next decision I have to decide is either to go with the 8 inch deep Julien stainless sink with zero radius corners(from their Urban Edge collection) or should I go with the Julien sink that is 10 inches deep with the more rounded corners(from the Julien classic collection)? The undermounting will add another inch to the depth of the sink so I'm worried that 11 inches may be too deep although I prefer the rounded corners. I like the 8 inch depth of the Julien Urban Edge collection sink but am worried that the sqaure edges may look too modern in my old fashioned traditional kitchen. It seems impossible to find the "perfect" sink.... Helou, the fridge is a 20 yr built in subzero that just keeps on running strong.... cilantro, I am sorry that you are not happy with your cast iron, how frusturating that it has stained your countertops! Thanks for letting me know that your Kohler cast iron has not held up well, that's too bad. What did Kohler say, have you called them?...See MorePlease pick your favorite Backsplash (Pics.)
Comments (4)I like photo #1 middle (unless it is too pinky which it may not be in person) because it is unique while still remaining somewhat neutral. The others look lovely with your paint color and granite, but I think that if you ever decide to change your paint color above your cabinets the others may limit you more. The second picture, right side is also nice, but I like the uniqueness of the other one better. Can you post a picture that shows them up against the cabinetry as well to see how all the colors tie together, they might help. Good luck! Comments (13)Yes, the Bluestar induction is too new for any reviews. It has 12 settings, not 9 as was first thought. And the knobs are what I will demand on the next induction cooktop I get. The touch controls just don't work if your hands are damp, and you have to watch them to make sure they don't change (any spatters may change the settings). Other than the lack of knobs, the Wolf is fine. For the hood, Vent-a-Hood is better in my opinion (and the factory is not far from where I live). However, 600 CFM is just right for induction, but it's not even remotely good enough for gas. [This assumes the standard 3" extra on each side. eg. 36" cooktop = 42" hood. If the hood is larger--6" or 12" on each side--and the distance up from the cooktop is close to the minimum, or the gas cooktop has no greater than 8K BTU burners, then you might get by with 600 CFM and gas, but if you're going for a 18K to 25K Bluestar you need some serious airflow.]...See MoreWhat flooring would look best for my galley kitchen and dining area?
Comments (12)Popcorn ceiling is being replaced...has it been tested for Asbestos? As for flooring, you can look to the floors BESIDE the vinyl to find out how to go about this. If you are into MCM retro, you can go with cork flooring. You can use a floating cork floor here (click together). I like to add a coat or two of Loba 2K Supra AT onto a cork floor...but if your choice of cork doesn't allow for that, you can have the edges of the click system sealed in the kitchen. The dining area would then be floated normally....See Morekatieleabrown86
