I vote for the stainless steel. You've got other stainless appliances, and I think it'll look classier. I think the white sink on the white counter might just be too much white. I've seen the Julien sinks and they're gorgeous.

BTW, is that the KitchenAid built in french door refrigerator I see there?

A second vote for stainless. I think it would go better with your white counters (which won't match the same white as a white sink) and the other stainless elements in the room.

i think cali girl's point of the whites not matching is a good reason to go with stainless and fortunately it will match your other stainless items

I also vote for stainless. Easier maintenance and no worry about mismatching. Also, you have stainless accents already. Nice kitchen, btw.

I really don't like the maintenance of stainless and prefer my white Kohler...But I, too, am concerned about mismatching white or too much white and think the stainless will look great in your kitchen.

Another vote for stainless, the Kohler sink you will have to baby to avoid scratches from knives etc. We've had two and they do not hold up well even when using the rubber mats that get slimy, and the wire racks to protect the bottoms.

Stainless will look great. I have a white Kohler cast iron drop in sink & I'm really disappointed in it. The iron on the underside of the rim rusted and stains the countertop. And, the sink has not held up worth a hoot so it's a double pain to keep it looking semi-clean. Not to mention the pot marks...

Thanks so much for all who have replied. So, stainless it is. It really helps to have the imput of others, someone else to look at something to give an opinion. I've seen so many beautiful fireclay sinks on this forum that I love, but when trying to find one there was none that would fit my existing hole so the next best thing I thought would be cast iron, but it seems that the consensus is that a white cast iron would be too much white with my white countertops. So, I will go ahead with the stainless. Thank you!

Now the next decision I have to decide is either to go with the 8 inch deep Julien stainless sink with zero radius corners(from their Urban Edge collection) or should I go with the Julien sink that is 10 inches deep with the more rounded corners(from the Julien classic collection)? The undermounting will add another inch to the depth of the sink so I'm worried that 11 inches may be too deep although I prefer the rounded corners. I like the 8 inch depth of the Julien Urban Edge collection sink but am worried that the sqaure edges may look too modern in my old fashioned traditional kitchen. It seems impossible to find the "perfect" sink....

cilantro, I am sorry that you are not happy with your cast iron, how frusturating that it has stained your countertops! Thanks for letting me know that your Kohler cast iron has not held up well, that's too bad. What did Kohler say, have you called them?

Julien will make a classic 8"...there's an upcharge but I don't remember how much it is.

Kaye--I didn't bother with calling them because the whole kitchen is getting ripped out this spring for a major remodel.

I called the Julien sink dealer, he told me that Julien charges a $100 fee just to give an estimate. He said that the custom sink by Julien is usually about 25% more than the ones already made(which are already over a $1000! That sure is alot of money for a sink.....
