Thanks for your replies! Sharb's kitchen is similar to what I have planned -- but all of my cabinets will go all the way to the ceiling. It looks like hers have a space between the top of the cab and the ceiling? However it makes me realize that off-white cabs can look lovely with white trim! My kitchen will be a very simple/classic style and there is not any height variation with the cabs -- it's almost "boxy" (by design of course!) since the kitchen is a rectangle with the island in the middle. The molding is also a design choice, it will add depth to the boxiness. Hope that is a good way to describe it! I'm having trouble picturing how it would look if that line was broken by painting the molding white. I'm still open to suggestions! Thanks!

I can totally relate to your challenges in finding the perfect off-white! I think I've tried just about every off-white in the BM collection and could probably paint a house with the remains of my tester pots,lol. Most recently, I went with BM Vapor (from the Affinity collection) in the basement and am happy with it...very soft which just a hint of color. Yet, I tried the same color in the upstairs hallyway/stairwell and read as too yellow so the search is still on! All comes down to the lighting in your home. I've tried Marble White too and really liked that one (but again-for the hallway, it was a little too yellow next to the Beacon Gray family room) Ballet White and Soft Chamois could be worth looking at as they do have less yellow if that's what you're after.I've also considered White Down and Maritime White (at 1/2 or 3/4 strength) Just throwing another option out there in addition to lots of great colors already suggested...White Dove oc17. Maybe too white for what you're looking for too, but a good one for a 'whiter' white without being too stark (if this makes any sense:)) FYI~ I came across the listing of some fave off-whites/descriptions 1. Normally that would be easy. The front of the exterior is so over the top gaudy that I’m taking it off and putting on a new one. I think you responded to one of my previous questions. Thank you for that. I want something that looks intentional and strong.

So we have south facing with a similar floor color, similar cabinets, and similar island (all of our bases are knotty alder stained mission oak, not just the island, but same idea). We chose Hanstone Paros Quartz counters which I guess lean cool but aren't super stark so they work with the warmth of the rest. Our backsplash is a chloe tile. We have extra white trim & cabinets. We chose SW Drift of Mist for the walls. I think it's a lovely color but it IS a color. Warm gray, that leans grayer in north rooms and looks nearly white in our south rooms. Trying to go lighter would've just looked washed out IMO. Here's what two similar whites look like next to each other. Drift of Mist on the walls. Kind of hard to see it in a photo, but it just looks off in person. This photo is also in a low light room so the DOM looks grayer. The color expert on this site (Lori Sawaya) mentioned in a previous post that if you want different colors between trim and walls, they need to be separated by a chroma of 0.3 (I think???) to not look like a dirty version of the same paint. Thankfully our contractor painted most of our stuff extra white (this was a happy mistake - we had chosen pure white) - I can tell that the one area with pure white trim (chroma 0.4) looks muddier next to drift of mist (chroma 0.6), while extra white (chroma 0.3) looks better.
