Wall color with black slate floor + white cabs + uba tuba counter
Comments (11)Thanks for the suggestions. We are getting closer. We took at look at the additional suggestions (SW Blonde, Ivorie and BM Shelburne Buff HC 28) but they didn't make the cut for what we are looking for. The good news is I think we are down to two (or at least that is all my DW wants to deal with at this point): BM Precious Ivory 185 (a little tan and slightly darker) and BM Soleil AF-330 (a little sunny). The Precious Ivory probably does have a better chance of complementing some of the ubatuba highlights, but I like the 'sunny' part of Soleil, especially since we have little direct light into our kitchen. Oh, and there might be some BM Popcorn Kernel 310 in there but I can't tell if the kids like the color or the name....See MoreHELP! White window/door trim, wood floor...what color 2' blinds?
Comments (26)Johnmari, Thank you for sharing about the many variations on white. Now I'm a little worried. We really don't have $ to go for custom treatments. If I go with the white, maybe I should order, try one, and then understand I may have to return? Yes. Absolutely. That was JM's point and what I assumed (and shouldn't have) you already knew. You need to have a plan to check the color before you commit. Or, as Annz said, there are many other resources out there at about the same price point as JCP where you can obtain samples before you buy. My Lowe's for instance has a nice supply of take home color samples for blinds and plantation shutters. You mention a mix of mission and contemporary - again, either would work. Someone made the point the wood tones do not reflect as much light into the space -- that is accurate. If you have abundant natural light, might not be such a concern. But if you're having trouble deciding between the two, that factor is something to consider. Exterior - Again, either can work. It's a matter of your deciding which choice, white or wood, is going to fit best with the design and look you're marching towards interior as well as exterior. Maybe make a spreadsheet and list the pros and cons of each color choice to help you see which one 'fits' best at least on paper....See MoreWhite floors w/gray walls, or gray floors w/white walls?
Comments (12)Maybe just consider doing a refresh. For a relatively cost effective, plus easy approach - I would suggest just putting down a piece of sheet linoleum or vinyl, over the existing tile. You won’t have to rip out the tile, and you can bring in any color/pattern you want. And btw, this type of sheet flooring has come a long way; many attractive options. You could do one that simulates a white tile floor. I also like some of the wood looks and terrazzo looks. Your bathroom floor area is relatively small, so this should be a fairly easy and inexpensive option. Change out the vanity lights. Lots of ways you can go with that, finish and style-wise; and I think that single change could really make a significant difference in the space. You can go ahead and paint the walls, and maybe also change the faucets.. These small changes will fairly easily create a new room; and this could hold you over temporarily - or permanently....See MoreDoor Color for TerraCotta/Red Brick w/ Slate Floor and Brown Trim
Comments (10)Thanks for all this great advice! @kandrewspa Our original thought *was* dark green—BM Essex or Chrome Green! When I pulled the picture into Photoshop and colored it, we weren't sure with the blueish slate floor. It might just be that the Tudor Brown that is making it feel off. Hopefully, that will be gone. I'll post a pic... @Jennifer Hogan We would like it to speak to the interior as well. The foyer as you enter is not done yet, but the room to the right and kitchen straight ahead that you can see are 90% there, so we will definitely take into consideration the color-ways there when deciding. Great point! The cranberry/blue-leaning red is the present color that we will be painting over. You can see a bit of it on the side door as well... @tracefloyd We love the blue, too! It's one of the colors we'll be grabbing chips for when we hit the paint store. We are still weighing the possibility of keeping and painting the storm because that doorway is like a wind tunnel. A neighbor's home built by the same people has no storm on their arched door and it looks so much better. The former owner of our house built a rectangular frame in front of the beautiful arched door to accommodate the screen. A custom arched storm door is on the long-term list. @houssaon Thanks for the suggestions! We'll grab those chips when we hit the paint store. @Patricia Colwell Thank you for the invitation to rethink the shake siding. We saw it on a much larger, more modern tudor with a pretty standard brick pattern and consistent color. Our house is made from bricks that were rejected by the brick factory and pretty funky and busy, so I see your point! I've been meaning to get a peek behind the aluminum, so maybe I need to get on that. There's a half-moon arched window behind the peak on the front of the house, so we hope to have that repaired and get rid of the siding they added to cover it to expose the brick. It's like that on the back....See MoreCelery. Visualization, Rendering images
