Wall color with black slate floor + white cabs + uba tuba counter

Hi everyone! You guys have an awesome forum here. I'm new to taking on big remodel projects and as I've been trying to work through my kitchen project, my google searches often land me back here. Anyway, I'm stuck on wall color and I have noticed that you guys don't shy away from providing advice.

Here's where I need to input/advice/guidance:

Kitchen remodel is underway. Entire kitchen was gutted with new drywall already up and primed. Trying to get some paint on the walls before cabinets come next weekend. This is a relatively low-budget and basic remodel. It is not a dream kitchen with all the bells and whistles. In addition, it is going into an older home (1935) Here is what is going back in:

- Floor: DuPont RealTouch Black Slate laminate flooring. I think that view is a little light and the picture is exactly the same as their green slate, so someone is obviously playing with the colors on their computer instead of showing real pictures. The

is a little better. Either way, the point is, it is dark on the floor. We aren't going wood laminate because the dining floor leading to the kitchen is old longleaf pine boards and I didn't want to contrast that with fake wood in the kitchen (but fake tile is OK!). And we aren't going tile since the house is pier & beam.

- Cabinets: MidContinent Cabinetry Adams style with Painted Maple in White (no glaze and it is not antique and it is not MDF brilliant white).

- Counter: Everyone's favorite, {{gwi:1749679}}! However, our slab is much darker than the sample in that link. Less gold, more black.

- Backsplash: We are planning to go with white subway tiles, possibly beveled.

- Appliances: Stainless steel.

- Trim: The trim will be white to match the cabinets, but at 5" wide, it is pretty bold.

Wall color is where I'm struggling to bring it all together. I initially got hooked on Restoration Hardware's Butter (as seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/theellsworth/3805970893/). I found the Benjamin Moore equivalent (from this site) which is Precious Ivory and put some samples up on the wall. I was expecting something a little more yellow based on the RH Butter name and in the picture above. What I am getting is considerably more tan than I was expecting, especially in natural light areas and up close. My concern is that the tan aspect of the color won't be the best tie-in for the black floor, white cabs and dark green counters.

Today I got the RH samples for Butter and Sycamore Green and put them up. The Butter is definitely more yellow than Precious Ivory (or less tan than PI). Looking at the paint chip for Sycamore Green, I thought it might be a perfect light/subtle green to tie the floor and counter together, but on the wall it is crazy darker than the chip. Except when I put the chip next to it and they look the same. The point being that on the wall, the Sycamore Green looks darker/stronger than what I want. It's funny how in my mind, the chip looks nice and light and like it would be perfect, but throw it up on the wall in a 6" area and it looks too overwhelming (especially since we aren't huge green fans).

Anyway, just looking for some friendly advice. I know this is a lot of info. It is partly a rant/plea for help since the pending delivery date of the cabinets is coming up so soon. If you are interested, here are some pics of the remodel.

I will post some pics of my color samples on the wall shortly so you can see how different RH Butter is from the BM Precious Ivory recommended here (but is not BM's RH Butter equivalent in their system).

Thanks for listening!

Matt
