Anyone Have An Attic Pull Down Stairway in Their Master Closet??
Comments (12)There is a product called an Attic Tent. This installs from inside the attic and seals these leaky attic staircases..and keeps insulation from falling into the home when access is needed into the attic. Install is with caulk gun & stapler, not difficult at all. When attic tent is installed then access to attic is to unzip the insulated 'tent'. These are sold for energy efficiency as these areas are mostly uninsulated and as the stair cases get older, they become air infiltration sites. I don't have a working link, but I'm sure you can google it. Cost is about $120. Attic staircase in conditioned space should be sealed for air infiltration, and heat gain....See Moredoes anyone have a jean louis closet kit?
Comments (1)We have that same closet kit in our walk-in. Dh and I purchased 2 kits and I just went in there to look at them and they seem to be a 4' section and a 6' section each; our closet has 10' walls so each kit fits on a wall; one for Dh and one for me. I suppose you could use just part of a section?...See MoreDoes anyone have a laundry closet?
Comments (5)lindiver, will you need space for items which can't be machine-dried to hang dry? If so, you may want to make the closet a bit deeper (just one foot makes a difference), and look for a way to hang a rod (tension rod, shower rod, etc) above the washer/dryer -- particularly if you can have shelves between them. Just a suggestion, which may not work for you. Have you considered installing pocket doors (that slide into the wall)? My best friend has a closet laundry in a hall near her bedroom, and she really likes the pocket doors, as they are completely out of the way when she is doing laundry. I would definitely prefer to have the w/d upstairs rather than in the basement. And that will certainly be a great help for your mom. dianne57, I believe you're talking about a GE FilterFlo washer. My first washer was one, and it was excellent (I also had the matching dryer). I didn't realize until a year or so ago that it's considered a classic today. :-)...See MorePantry and utility closet...swap? Anyone have 24 in utility?
Comments (3)Ok, suspicions confirmed! Thanks, desertsteph! Lascatz, how do you fit all that in 12 inches? Pegboard? I thought a lot about where to put the pantry. It is currently where the fridge and pantry are pictured with 12 inch deep fixed shelves and much wasted space. I really want to avoid all tall cabinets on the short wall against the bathroom as it makes the space feel closed in (fridge is currently there). It was hard to decide between having the Advantium next to the fridge or the pantry, and in the end I wanted the pantry by the fridge and to steal the 6 inches for an 18 inch drawer stack vs 12 inch. I agree a straight line isn't ideal, but the space is small, and that's the only option that works without major structural changes or filling up that short wall floor to ceiling. Or we could lose the Advantium, but DH is pretty excited to get one and it's the only thing he's asked be included other than a double sink! So any additional ideas for making a 24 inch cabinet into utility/cleaning storage? Looks like I can work on converting the utility closet to a pantry while I'm waiting for the remodel to begin, kind of excited about that as it feels like it's starting!...See Morest5330
