Hand held shower head--what brands? What pieces?
Comments (13)You also need a wall supply. Depending on the handshower you choose, you may also need a separate check valve. I was told in a showroom, that Moen puts their check valves in their handheld shower, so the wall supply doesn't have one. But, you can buy one. Hansgrohe, however, doesn't put one in their handshower, and you can buy a wall supply with or without the check valve (I believe), so you need to make sure you buy the right one. It is okay to have more than one check valve, but you want to make sure you have one....See MoreShower head only or additional hand held in shower/tub combo
Comments (14)agree with ravencajun that there are some really nice handhelds out there that rival or even beat a basic fixed head, plus their utility for cleaning is critical to me. Another option is to place the handheld on a slide bar so you can adjust to different heights. This is especially nice for kids or folks with very different heights. Unless you have a wide tub, I would be inclined to go with a really nice handheld on a bar and the tub spout, otherwise as linelle pointed out it will get busy with so many fixtures. Plus you will need additional diverter valves and trim for extra fixtures and you may decide that money might be better spent on upgrading the shower head (or some other part of your redo) We went all out in ours, but it is a good sized shower only - but you can see what it looks like in the picture below with two fixtures on one wall. I forget the exact dimension, but it is probably at least 40" across. Here is a link that might be useful: Master redo...See MoreShower head with sepeate hand held
Comments (3)I'm getting these from Jaclo: http://www.jaclo.com/detail/7-12-thermostatic-valve - Which will control the temperature, and can keep it set where you want it. And two (2) of these : http://www.jaclo.com/detail/1282-12-exacto-volume-control-valve - One for the shower head, and one for the handheld shower on a bar. There are many various styles of trim that can be used on these valves. Look at the Jaclo website. http://www.jaclo.com/...See MorePlumbing Recommendation for Shower Head, Hand Held and Tub Spout
Comments (12)Hi Esme Would love to help you out but not sure what additional information I can provide. What we have works, a diverter tub spout, but It is frustrating when guests use the shower because to send the water to the shower you must pull down on the bottom of the spout and it is not obvious that this piece is there or how to use it. I had wanted a single 3-way diverter that would have diverted the water to the 3 outlets but my plumber goofed from what he told me to purchase for fixtures to the way his workmen plumbed the pipes and valve. I have replaced the 3-way/6 function trim/cartridge which had 3 positions with no water (what would have been tub only, Tub + shower head, Tub + hand held) with a 2 way/3 function diverter. My new plumber was refusing to install the 2-way diverter stating that it wouldn't work properly despite the install instructions that the same rough in valve worked with either the 3-way or 2-way. The Trim Kit included the cartridge so the new 2-way fixture included a compatible cartridge. He installed it, just to prove me wrong, and it worked as I expected! He said he had a customer with the same issue and took the instructions and box so he could recommend how to fix her problem. These are Brizo/Delta Valves and Trim. I don't think the set up I ended up with is the best diverter set up. However, I received conflicting feedback from the Showroom, who consulted their Delta Rep, and the Delta Customer Service, that I contacted, on whether or not Option A (3-way diverter) would work. Good Luck! I really felt like I was the first person to want a tub, shower and hand held configuration with the amount of confusion with the Showroom, Delta and my Plumber....See MoreBruce in Northern Virginia
