Adding a hand-held shower to existing tub?
Comments (7)There's also something like the following which are intended for a retrofit (Kohler example; there are others). The top bracket that mounts to the wall is actually attached to the source for the original shower head. I'm not sure what your point is about your linen closet not having an access panel. It has nothing to do with new construction. I also wanted to maintain my existing tile. My home was built in the late 50's and it did not have an access panel in the linen closet either. That didn't stop the plumber from busting a large hole in the plaster wall in the closet. I created my own access panel to cover it up. Comments (9)I've had mine, similar to the one pictured above, from Vintage Tub for ten years. I did not want to spend a lot , so I was worried, but they were very helpful and answered all of my questions over the phone. I had it sent to me, and then installed by a plumber, and have loved using it ever since....See Moreshower head, hand held and tub spout
Comments (9)Although, we are re-doing a bathtub/shower, and I am replacing it with showerhead, handshower and tub spout, and had to get all the pieces separately (didn't care for the Symmons styles). We are going to use a delta pressure balanced valve (but it has separate handles on one valve, one for water volume and one for temperature), and then a diverter (to go to either tub, shower, or handheld). The rest of the parts are going to be Grohe, but they are all from different style lines (yeah, it sounds like Frankenstein but I don't think it will look that bad)....See MoreRemoving receiving wall on tub/shower combo. Comments (2)Our hall bath is set up like yours without a wall between the tub and toilet I did not plan this it was how it was put in in the twenties. You will need a two piece curve bar with a ceiling mount bar. I find two shower curtains with an opening in the middle of the front of the tub the best for keeping water from splashing out with my kids, oldest is 9. I have a cheap Costco railhead/ hand held combo which when aimed properly is never an issue. Pardon my bath it is nearly a hundred years old and shows it age. :( toilet at end of tub with curtain only Shower head combo which has worked well in ours Shower curtain set up that after much trial and error works with the kids unsupervised. Without the curtain my toilet would be wet so you will need something there I believe, either glass panel with glass doors or two curtains and wait for doors. i actually prefer curtains to glass for bathing small children and I also prefer curtain to glass for kids and guest who most likely will skip the squeegee process....See Moreravencajun Zone 8b TX
