I can't help you but I did want to post that I've had a problem with Edge in the last week too. I only use it on this computer to play one radio station stream so I don't know if it's the browser or the website that is giving me the problem. There was a Windows update that was supposed to put a patch on a security problem and it went through but I'm still leery since I'm not a tech savvy person. I hope someone who knows can help you and me. I'm having a problem with my Dr's. office telling me that I have to use Internet Explorer to access the patient portal and I've told them that it isn't secure and isn't supported by Microsoft anymore but they just look at me like I'm crazy that I don't want to use an insecure unsupported browser to access my private health records, for heaven's sake!

I just looked at your previous post (why was it under Home Decorating Conversations?). I can't really help, but I do use both Edge and Chrome and haven't had any problem with either. Last week, I had some weirdness on my work computer and our local tech said that Microsoft did send out a big update blast, and I should check if there are updates waiting to be installed. On my home computer (also running Windows 10), this update didn't appear, but maybe it got updated without my knowing it. [After I wrote this, I checked the Windows Update link under Settings and see the message "Updates available, last checked: Today, 9:58" and four, apparently non-critical updates were "pending install", which I will do after I logoff].

Rita, tell your doctor's office that Microsoft replaced IE with Edge, and they need to update their files. lol.

I also got a notice for an update to Edge but I didn't have time to do it. And if it needs updated, I'm not touching it. One thing I noticed is now that I'm using Chrome as my default browser I can open videos on facebook which my friends took. I couldn't do it on Edge.

Oh yeah! I used AOL before my old pc crashed in December and when I bought the new one with Windows 10 and Edge, I went to download AOL and I got a "re-direct" virus. HP sent me instructions on how to get my computer back to factory settings. So Edge has been nothing but a headache.

There's a lot of complaints about Edge & now I see why.

Oakley, I have read your post. This can happen to any browser, not just edge. Yes, it will most likely be there when you open it up again. Open it up anyway, and dont panic. If the virus is still there, or even if it isnt. Go to where your icon is for your edge, and right click on it. Choose Open with new window. Now shut the browser with the virus, (malware), down. You can also shut the new window down. This should be off your browser now. Make sure you have an updated anti virus, and run a scan. Also make sure you have an updated Malwarebytes and run a scan. All should be good.

Microsoft has completely re-coded Edge based on the Chrome browser engine. Presumably the revamp will come in via Windows update at some point if it hasn't already.

Cat, I have Norton on my pc, and they're supposed to be anti-malware too. Is Malwarebytes a program I can download and run?

https://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes/3000-8022_4-10804572.html   This is for the free version, however, it usually comes in as the trial version, but, dont worry, it will be for a limited time, and then it reverts itself to free version. You do need to open the edge though, and do what I posted above. Either that, or just never use it again. Remember though, another browser, will not guarantee that you wont get it again. It can happen on any browser. If it does, dont shut it down, go to the same browser that you are using, and choose open in new window, and then get the first window closed down. Good Luck. :-))
