New hallway and stair runner finally!
Comments (20)Wow, newhomebuilder, thankyou! I love your home and mine can't even compare to yours. I actually posted a photo of the outside recently..something tiled "need help with exterior trim" I think if you click on the photo above it will bring you to my photobucket photos. It was a dump when we bought it and my husband re-did everything..kitchen, 4 baths, porches, basement apt. for my mom. It's hard when you try to redecorate with what you have. Change one thing, and it throws off everything else. It's like the domino effect! I am trying to do the best with as little money as possible. I finally got rid of the old owner's navy blue with rose colored flower runner. It was hideous and went with nothing, but my daughter's upcoming wedding was a good excuse to talk my husband into getting rid of it....See MoreEntry hallway runner - what size/style would fit best?
Comments (3)Thanks, Jan! I just snapped a couple additional photos showing the area at the front entry in relation to the front hallway where the runner is + a length shot of the runner. I measured from the door to the wall where the hallway starts and it’s 72 in. The length of the door across (not counting the molding on the sides) is 36 in. exactly. And the widest I could probably go without interfering with the air vent is 48 in. But i’m afraid to get one too big so that its too close to the hallway runner. shouldn’t there be some space? what’s the recommendation there? I also measured the width of the hallway and it’s 43.5 in. Given those measurements, do you have a suggestion on which entry rug and runner sizes would work best? Thank you!...See MoreHow many runners should we use for our hallway?
Comments (5)Once everything is updated, you may opt not to add a runner, so other elements like floor, art or furniture stand out (and for a sleeker, modern look). If you decide you want one, I’d cut kraft paper and test different dimensions and have a custom runner(s) made. https://shop.wellwoven.com/collections/custom-size-runners/products/well-woven-julita-custom-size-runner-medallion-oriental-blue-36-inch-width-x-choose-your-length-hallway-runner-rug?variant=37231866183841&epik=dj0yJnU9NXhJZnNaYzRXMmZ0MkxqMzA3cVR0OVpCc2drYm80c20mcD0wJm49V2dIUU1lTHNTY1RTbl84eWs2ZG5vdyZ0PUFBQUFBR0czanF3&utm_source=pinterest&utm_medium=social...See MoreHallway runner suggestions!
Comments (2)That's true, I think a runner is probably better though because I still need some kind of entry rug in front of the door and that might look more awkward/less elegant? Not sure. Yeah, a floor lamp wouid be better there, and provide more light. There's a hall light of course but I rarely use it. I have a light sensor that turns that small lamp on when I come down the stairs and that provides better illumination for the stairs than the hall light. Upstairs there is an ugly three-lamp spot kinda of thing I need to tear out too that I don't use much either. I hate the stairs but to get the cool modern wire urban railings I want is going to be way too costly and I'd need to get all the damn honey oak painted first. Three years maybe? Kitchen is the first major remodel. You can probably imagine the country cabinets. just moved in September, it's a work in progress......See MoreAC LB
