Thanks ladies,wish you all lived closer then i could share all the books and magazines i'm getting rid of with you,but alas you don't so i'm waiting for a call back from the library.There are 5- 33 gal trash bags and one box sitting on my front porch right now waiting for AmVets to pick them up,plus a few miscellaneous pieces. Gillian i got those shelve years ago at the unfinished furniture store,and that's 8 separate units stacked on top of each other.Those other 2 units to the left of the tv used to be stacked with them also and the whole thing before was on that wall to the left of the tv,and where the tv is i used to have my Simplicity pattern cabinet and a 5 shelf bookcase.I moved the pattern cabinet to the garage and got rid of the bookcase.Oh and that hammer is no longer there.I was using it and every time i laid it down i couldn't find it,so i hung it there til i was done.LOL I didn't realize there was a magazine covering my cross stitch,so here is what was under the magazine!! Both of my desks came from the goodwill several years ago.I love them for their size and durability,and alllthe drawers they each have.Paid 35.00 each. Minnie,i can't stand empty walls,they make rooms look like no one lives there,IMHO.Besides if you're indulge in all these things then you should have them so you can enjoy them. Nina,yes it is very nice to look out into the gardens,and watch the birds,and see all the flowers etc.So when i'm not in this sewing room,i'm usually out in the gardens. There is only DH and i here now all our kids are grown and gone and have their own families.My oldest lives just 5 houses down the street with his family,so that's nice. Vicky ,you'll get your room someday as well.This one was a long time coming.I used to sew on the kitchen table when the kids where all young,but i never let that stop me. My Mama passed almost seven years ago, and I am still working on her fabric stash, but with materials used for quilting and also every other type of material one could need. I started quilting about a year before she died, and my first quilt was a Christmas gift for her, I finished in February. I kept company with her as I was quilting and she watched it come together, not knowing it was for her. She had always wanted to make a quilt, and had started the blocks for a Cathedral Windows, inspired by a friend when we lived in Missouri, as state just famous for it's cottage quilt industry. When one drove through the Ozarks, it was commonplace to see them hung out on clotheslines, to catch the eye of passers-by. She had also made some yo-yos but they disappeared sometime and I've never found them. I wish you much enjoyment with your new hobby. I think you'll find yourself close to her spirit as you work, as I find myself close to my mother when I am in my sewing room, handling the fabrics she had saved over the years. I have made about thirty quilts since then, really surprising myself since making ONE quilt was on my bucket list. LOL. Welcome to the forum, and my condolences as well on your mother's passing. BTW, that is one beautiful design you will be finishing. I also have a quilt cat who loves to lay on my blocks and scatter them too. He keeps me company each morning as I sew, and prefers my sewing room to all the others in this house.

It doesn't sound silly when it takes what you think is a super long time to accomplish a sewing task - no matter how small (and lining up squares isn't easy)...give yourself the time and remember it's better to do it right once then have to rip and re-rip. I have ripped miles and miles of seams and such over the years...all because I'd just whip through a job and discover I'd done something wrong and have to start again. Good thing I learned patience.....my one SIL who USED to sew...(has now sold her fancy serger and machine due to lack of use) ..well as soon as she made one small error (like the time she sewed a sleeve on a nightie inside out) she ditched the whole project. I ended up fixing so many things over the years and completeing them ...all because of minor mistakes she was too lazy to fix herself. so hang in there...your pillows sound wonderful and I'm sure your mom and grandma will love them all the more because of the effort you took to make them . Keep on sewing!
