To pick up the shades in the rug and add color to your space I would look at soft blues and blue/greens like Benjamin Moore HC-147 Woodlawn Blue or Yarmouth Blue HC-150.

I almost hate to to ask... but what are your thoughts on grey for this space? I know this is a tired trend, but this is the only colour my hubby doesn't turn his nose at. LOL Are there any shades that might work?

I just copied this for another person [with north-facing]: If a cool color, it would be Benjamin Moore Wythe blue or Woodlawn Blue. Wythe is a beautiful blend of blue/green/gray (pretty balanced). Woodlawn Blue is a blue/gray with a wink of green in it. And even though blue and green are BOTH traditionally cool colours, when you add green to blue – it makes it appear warmer! I would pick a blue with green in it.

THANKS! Our teal rug is a brand new piece that I have been coveting for a long time... found it on Wayfair for a steal of a deal (and then they sent TWO by mistake and told me to keep one! BONUS!!!!)... so hoping to build our decor elements around this piece.

I always like soft grayed/ greens with wood and IMO a real neutral. I try to stay away from blues in LRs they have way too many undertones and cn look quite baby roomish if not quite right.Sweet Spring BM is a nice color .

You already have plenty of gray. Your room would look great with a very pale greenish/blue on the walls. Green enough to not look "blue", and blue enough to not look "green". The color will look fresh and clean, especially without much natural light.

Thanks calidesign. Agreed! As you suggest...I think I'm going for a blue/green/grey. We don't get a lot light in the space and our potlights are rather warm. With this in mind, do you think the lighter colours might take on that baby blue or mint green look? I definitely want to avoid that.

There is no way to know without testing some colors. Paint large samples on white poster boards so you can look at them on different walls and in different lighting situations.

Before reaching out to all you wonderful people, I was leaning towards a true grey... but mostly because I was out of ideas! lol That being said, I tend to find that choosing a color with a wink of grey helps to tone it down and softens the look. That's the only reason I come back to grey. As many have suggested here, Isomething with a little blue/green might just be what I need showcase the teal in my rug.

Our current paint colour is too warm and looks sage green in contrast to our new sofa and rug. It's been 10 years since we painted last.... so definitely time for a change!
