Absolutely NO to loveseats - they are boogers to arrange and only seat one person unless you have cuddling lovers in the home. Get a rug 2-4 feet larger than the sofa and big enough to put two chairs on. Swivel chairs are versatile to arrange over and over because they can always turn to see the TV. Pull the coffee table 12-18" from the sofa. Lower the art so it is centered 5' above the floor. Your current set up causes two hazards; tripping on the step up and then running directly into the back of the sofa. Since this is a windowless room, you need to focus on lighting. Ceiling fan lights are ambient (the kind you turn on so you don't break your neck in the dark.) Then they should be dimmed or turned off so the accent and task lights (table & floor lamps, art lamps and uplights under plants) can create ambiance and a cozy, welcoming feeling.

First, concentrate on the floor plan.

What is the room in the front? Could you place the tv there?

What is the room that steps down? Could you put tv in there?

If not, I would

1) Place the tv on the wall where the 4 pieces of art are now.

2) Place the sofa facing the tv.

3) Rug

You now have the walkways open for foot traffic.

that sofa is blocking half of that walk way. is there no other place to put it? what if you put it on the tv wall and put the tv on the wall behind sofa?

or hang tv where art is. but lets see the entire room

btw, your art is too high. move the bottoms down to this line. middle of pic should be at 56-60"

a rug and a chair is really all you need. But post a picture showing another view. stand over by tv and shoot out

what if you put the sofa against the picture wall? to watch tv you'd swing out the mount to view.

move it againstthe wall, find an area rug to put under the coffee table, and take another pic.

or, put sofa where tv is, move tv/console to the picture wall. I think the tv would look better on that wall. the wall where it is now is so big. unless you plan on getting a 65" tv.

Okay! Just moved the couch to the other wall and just added a couple chairs to see what it could look like. Does it feel unbalanced?

Regarding putting the tv on the other wall, would love to try, but not sure if I can get my husband to mount it again on a different wall haha

I like the idea of putting the TV where the four pieces of art are now because, if that is your kitchen area we see near the big clock, wouldn't your husband want to see the TV while he is cleaning up after supper (ha!ha!)

Try this arrangement. Use 4 swivel chairs, TV on the current art wall, sofa with its back to the kitchen. Scale the chairs and coffee table for your smaller space. Anchor all of the seating on a nice big rug.

You have a nice space.

I could see adding a plant or two on wall where you have your lamp and art.

And a sofa table behind sofa, maybe with some lamps. But you could also just do the sofa table by itself. Sofa table there would be good - to anchor floating sofa.

Bottom line: this room is basically a "walk-through room", so is going to be challenging to have this set up as a regular family room.

1) What is the purpose of this room?

2) How many people need to sit here?

3) I see a couple of other rooms that would seem to function better as a family room (nearby). Would those serve your purpose?
