A Teens Fishy Text?
Comments (8)It is very possible it's a wrong number. Similar things have happened to DH and I...with DH it was someone who thought he was texting a girl he knew, and it was in a similar vein. Mine was a text I sent that I thought was to my son-in-law. It wasn't anything risque, but it ended up being a fairly long text exchange with a young man who thought I was playing a game so he was playing along. When I finally realized it was NOT my SIL, I was mortified! If it hasn't happened again, I'd pass it off as being a mistake. You know, I just realized this has happened to DH a couple of times...always wrong numbers....See More-20% for being a loser! did you see what a teacher
Comments (18)And for goodness sake, Wildchild, what does not having a father in the picture have to do with anything? A male perspective might have kept emotional mommy from running to the press for one. This teacher has been teaching for 12 years at that school without complaints. All the kids seem to love him. He nicknames all the kids and they call him T-Rex. The other students have posted that he writes "loser" on papers are done well. Many of the students he teaches are gifted. He has never put derogatory statements are papers that are lacking. They have also said that he is the one teacher that will go the extra mile to help students having trouble with their work. They say he jokes a lot but knows when to get serious. They have a lot of respect for him and past students ave posted they learn from him. The problem seems to be with just this one parent. I just love the way the media has played this. That is NOT a failing paper. The picture of the girl looks to be a few years old. Her Facebook profile shows a normal almost teen wearing make-up, big earring etc. not a little kid who looks around 8. LOL A friend of the girl's post hints strongly that the girl wasn't upset. It was her mother that was. What kind of mother takes it to the media and causes her poor child to be the subject of ridicule? She could have handled it with the school and the teacher directly. That child will forever be known in that community as the one whose mommy went on TV to air her grievance because of perceived hurt feelings. The whole thing has gone viral on the net with a country judging a man on the basis of a "human interest" media clip. The teacher has apologized to the mother. now it's time for her to apologize to many, starting with her DD....See MoreOur teachers are going on strike
Comments (27)One of my peeves is when people scream about "a teacher makes less than a______". and other apples/turnips comparison. They usually fail to mention that a teacher, whether you want to admit it or not is a part time job, not a full time job. so the "______" to whom you compare works 12 months a year (less vacation/holidays) where a teacher does not. I worked for school districts for many years. I taught and worked in other areas. People seem to forget that most teachers have the summer off. They have "convention" days off, 10-12 holidays, prep hours during the day (which street sweepers don't get) and then vacation on top of it. Calculate out the number of days, hours, months and you may be surprised how little they actually work. Of course that will vary from situation to situation but when I did a calculation when employed in the schools, teachers "worked" about 7 months a year. So when you compare salaries, compare them fairly, not emotionally. You may be surprised at what the numbers actually show....See MoreKeyboard Key Goes Crazy, Produces Text
Comments (17)Thanks for the further keyboard suggestions. An embarrassment of riches. :-D Snidely, the person who built my most recent computer is an IT guy and president of his own small company. He frequently does work for major companies around where I live (Allentown area) and has gone as far as NYC to so work, so he is a very trusted 'geek.' He first built a computer for me in the early 2000s, so when I needed a new one a few years ago I thought of going nowhere else. :-) But if I ever find that he's not available anymore (for building a computer or repairing the one he made for me), I'll just shop for one of the regular brands as you suggest without looking for another home-made one. Thanks again to all for all your feedback!...See Moremtnrdredux_gw
