Counters and Island Too Matchy or Too Busy?
Comments (2)I personally don't think there is a right or wrong way to go. I like the contrast look, but I didn't do it (primarily because of the size of my kitchen and the size of my island). In my case, my perimeter cabs are off-white and my island is brandy with black accent. I went with verde butterfly everywhere (it's very dark) because my island is pretty large in relation to the kitchen and I did think it would look busy. IF my island had been much smaller OR I had a huge kitchen, I probably would have done contrasting counters. Now that they are in, I am very happy I chose to match them. It was the right call in my space. GOOD LUCK!...See MorePaint too matchy matchy with rug? pics
Comments (25)Hi, thanks for the nice words! prill, the paint is "Pumice" by Restoration Hardware. I found the rug at HomeGoods, of all places! We looked all over the place for rugs and I happened to be shopping for candles and it caught my eye. gwbr, we're going to play with the placement of the dining table this weekend. It's a heavy table so moving it is a pain, but I agree with you the alignment isn't quite right. We just had the movers bring it in and plop it down and we haven't had a chance to find the right placement yet. ummm, thanks for the tips! The dining table was custom made by a LA carpenter who makes dining tables out of re-claimed wood. As for your tip about painting the "brown table", were you referring to the little red table? We don't have a brown table except for the small round table b/t the two chairs....See MoreToo matchy-matchy?
Comments (6)It's not a sin to repeat the same bathroom design, however it might take away from the specialness of the master. I suggest you change it up a bit in the kids bathroom for a few reasons. The first is that with that small subway tile you have A LOT of grout lines. Kids aren't kind to bathrooms and keeping them clean is more of a challenge, so go for the larger tile. You didn't say if the tile was marble or a marble look, but i wouldn't put real marble in a kids bathroom. Also, I can tell you really love the rose design but....well its pretty polarizing. I think if you ever go to sell it could really turn off buyers so repeating it in a kids bathroom (or any other design) is not recommended. Personally i think it's taking away from the beauty of the other design elements and doesn't relate to anything else in the room....See MoreToo matchy-matchy rug and painting?
Comments (21)Love all the comments and suggestions, thanks!! Nobody loves my wishbone Hans Wegner chairs huh? OK... I thought the Danish look would fit right in. No? I also thought that getting a beech wood table/chairs in that room would work with the jute rug to continue the natural look. I know some thing in the room may not be ideal together but I am ignoring that. Ideally, I would like the room to look comfy, scandinavian, modern, casual, Bohemian would be great too:) The two-tone table/chairs are not staying, but having them there for now makes me realize I like white/light much better than any dark furniture. I was thinking of getting these two lamps and putting the table lamp on end table in corner, and the tall one behind the other sofa to the right of the TV. OR...do you all think the lamps (that are definitively needed) at the end of the sofas would have to be matching? Thanks:)...See MoreMelissa c
