Is this rug too "matchy-matchy" for my room? (pic inside)
Comments (27)I have seagrass in other rooms, but my husband hates how it feels underfoot. I can't say I don't agree. I hate walking on my seagrass in bare feet! :) We have a rug manufacturer here who will make any size area rug. There was one contender in the warehouse the other day, but I ultimately decided it was too dark for the space. We have a friend who is an expert in oriental rugs take a look at the one we are considering. He said it's from Pakistan and the price is fantastic. a 12x18 from less expensive brands is running $5k in his shop. I think we have a winner!...See MoreMatchy-matchy, or white crown and hickory trim?
Comments (16)I'm loving all the responses. Patti43 - The room will be a soft sagey green. It's called "Key Lime Pie." We used it in our living room on base and loved it. The floors are 60+ year old white oak. The room is small, about 11' 9" by 22". It's cramped, and basically a TV watching area by the kitchen. The LR is broken up by the walkway from the front door to the kitchen with an awkward 30" wide strip on the south wall. It's too small for furniture; it's too separated from the seating areas. We've decided to fill it with built-ins. It's cramped, and basically a TV watching area by the kitchen. The east wall is broken up with a large window and the front door, the south wall has an off center window, on the west wall there's a wide opening into the kitchen and an open doorway at the other end into the hallway. The south wall is a bit over 11' wide. From left to right it will have a closet, about 4' wide, a storage window seat under the window (with a small bistro table and two chairs) and two 18" cabinets on either side of the window from the window seat to the ceiling. I don't have a useable drawing or photo, but this is a floor plan of the house. You can see some of the LR's issues. The bathroom has a new layout now....See MoreIt's Both Matchy-Matchy....And Not
Comments (30)The photo may be post-processed, but the main thing that is going on is the HDR photography. The HDR takes multiple photos at different focal lengths and blends them together. Done badly, and it causes things in the background to jump out and look like they are superimposed and colors to be more intense than in real life. It's even happening in video and TV. Nevertheless, the video shows you how the painting is in the next room and how the photo makes it appear (by making it more clear in focus and blending it in with clear foreground picture) that it is in the same room and hanging on the wall. This is the type of room that benefits from shadows and different layers of focus....See MoreIs this look too matchy matchy?
Comments (3)I think it will all work together, the darker floors and the lighter grey counters have enough contrast that I think they will look good together. Can’t go wrong with shaker white cabinets...always a classic. :-)...See MoreRelated Professionals
