Rose that you cannot find that you Want.
Comments (36)Thanks, but Forest Farm is dead to me. They've sent me too many mislabeled species roses. I have a new objective for species roses: they should be true to type and, ideally, seed grown so that if we buy two plants, they won't be clones. I'm sick of species selections grown as clones. With unrelated seedlings, if we carefully hybridize the two plants, we can actually produce seedlings showing a bit of the diversity of the species. I've love to have a garden full of species that aren't clones. OP species seedlings are always a crapshoot, and OP seedlings of a solitary diploid species rose are virtually assured to be hybrids because so many diploid are self-incompatible....See MoreAlisande....I gave your technique a try
Comments (11)Taigen, I am so glad to hear (and see) this!! I know exactly how you feel......they really are so much fun to do. The iridescent background added something new and exciting, and makes me wonder what other variations on the background we could try. I especially like your first one. You'll find the process a lot easier when you get your macro lens. I was told to use a tripod, and I'm sure that facilitates things, too, but my tripods are old and can't accommodate a camera facing straight down. That's okay.........I enjoy a challenge, at least the kind that involves cameras. :-) Well, now you've got me wanting to try some more. And since the sun came out as I typed that last sentence, I just might do that. Thanks so much for sharing these! Susan...See MoreFunny you should say that, Alisande
Comments (10)Ole Joyful, frankly I'm surprised myself that I didn't have a heart attack. I knew what to do from years back when visiting friends. My young son walked into the kitchen where we were chatting with paint all over himself; turned out he'd gotten into their kids' paints in the playroom. I thought I was going to have to buy them new playroom carpeting, but they leapt into action, grabbing the shop vac and cold water. It worked great then. It also worked great when a few years later, the same son threw up all over our family room carpeting right after drinking red punch. Just make sure not to pour too much water at a time, as you don't want to make your target go further down....See MoreWho's Responsible for My Behavior? I think it's...Alisande!
Comments (18)A couple more, the boys jacket was for another nephew. He's 6'4", I'm 5'5", had a real hard time finding a jacket long enough for him. Had to add a flap in the back, the sleeves had to be lengthened and because he's got massive arms had to add some leather down the undersides of the sleeves. I used a jean jacket, felted wool sweaters and hoodie plus the leather. Total cost for it was about $14 and this one took some time. The other one is a jean jacket and a hoodie sewn together. Sister in law loves this one....See MoreChi
