Switching cords on a dryer

I changed out the dryer plug . I started it and it was working . When I pushed the dryer back into the wall there was a spark . The L-1 housing was broken and accidentally touched the L-1 cord to the actual dryer there was a spark and now the dryer won’t start. So how bad is it?

Not sure how an insulated cord could spark when up against the metal of the drier. Did you change the plug or the outlet? I know you said plug but.....Got a pic?

Start where the problem occurred and go from there. Change out the plug again and see what happens. If nothing, then you are probably looking at an appliance repair call.

See if the drier has a main fuse in it someplace probably in the control box area, if there is a main fuse at all.

It wasn’t insulated. It was where the two cords screw together. The housing broke off. The lug actually touched against the dryer. I’ll check for a main fuse

Your Bosh Axxis dryer comes from the manufacturer without a power cord. If yours was delivered with a cord, then the dealer installed it. You need to contact the dealer and advise them that your dryer arrived with a a 4-prong connecter, but that your house has the older style 3-prong outlet. Most dealers will provide the appliance with whichever connecter is appropriate. If your dealer won't change it, then you can easily do this yourself by going to your local home center or hardware store and buying a properly rated 3-prong cord which will cost $12 to $15. The instructions for installing it on your dryer are on pages 8 & 9 of your owner's manual, complete with very clear illustrations. The dryer can be installed with either type of plug, unless you're in a mobile home or your local electrical code doesn't allow grounding through the neutral (which is what's done using a 3-prong connecter). Incidently, if you had an electrician out to run an entirely new circuit for a dryer, he should have installed a 4-conductor cable from the breaker panel and a 4-pronged outlet. The old 3-pronged outlets are out of date (but still legal if already in place), however new installations must be installed using 4 conductors.

What I did was jut replace the receptacle to 4 prong. It's so much cheaper than buying a new cord. It costs like $4. The 4th prong is the ground. IF you already have a ground wire (not connected to anything) in the outlet box, just connect it to the ground connection on the receptacle. The 2 hot wires and 1 neutral wire are the same. I'm no electrician...WARNING...turn the darn electricity off before you do it.

I'm in the process of getting our laundry room ready for our new LG washer and dryer. This will be our first "stacker" and like the rest of you here I've got to find a 10 foot three prong power cord. No problem...they're all over the place. But they don't have the UL listing. Why is that and is this important? I've always been somewhat of a stickler on details like this. Is there a safety aspect to having a power cord that is longer than six feet?

There is an electrical outlet in the wall. There is a cord that is permanently attached to the dryer on one end and has a plug on the other end which is plugged into the outlet. Which did you change out? What is "L-1"? Are you in the US?

Sorry I changed out the cord . L-1 L-neutral and L-2 . These are the three wires . It’s basically a hot wire

I would check that the cord is properly attached to the dryer. For example: Are the cord's wires NOT touching one another where they attach to the dryer? Are the screws that hold the wires to the dryer tight? Is there a strain relief (which prevents the cord from being pulled out of the dryer) and is the cord routed through it properly? I would check all these things to make sure the wiring was done correctly. If there was a spark, the fuse or circuit breaker in the house's electrical panel probably blew.
