Emergency help! Bosch Axxis Dryer, confused about power cord

We have the Bosch Axxis 24" condensation dryer (WTE86300US). The guy came to hook it up on Friday and told me that the electrician installed the wrong outlet for it. The dryer seems to have this huge 4 pronged outlet plug (our wall outlet is 220v, but 3 pronged). My husband and I have been looking over the instructions and can't tell if we are really supposed to use this big 4 pronged thing or... if we are supposed to use some other plug. Any advice is appreciated. We are royally confused and need to get it installed correctly tomorrow. Thx!

Did the electrician see the product plug before installing his wall plug ?

You cannot change the product plug.

I think you need to do an internet search using some of these terms.
" Bosch Axxis condensation dryer (WTE86300US) "

in order to locate the real company web site.

The last term, a number, may have a couple extra letters attached, compared to what you will find in the right site. So remove a couple terms and you will sooner or later get to the company web site. Once there, you can begin searching for your specific product.

When you get there, find your product or something similar, and open the PDFs and there you will find out that the plug it comes with is what it is.

You may find out a bit more.

The installation pdf is in the Use And Care Manual pdf and carefully avoids giving up that info re USA.

I would go back to the person who installed your new(?) wall outlet if he is a licensed electrician because it is the wrong item. Perhaps he expected to get called to do the dryer installation too when it was time and had a way to deal with it. Otherwise I would get a real licensed electrician in to do the job of installing the correct wall outlet item.

Also repeat your request on the Electrical Forum as well. Mention the part number on the plug and cable if there is one.

Gordonr - Started experiementing with the Danby today. I have to revise what I said about the Maytag, but I think that is mostly due to it dying it's slow death. Right after my post the next load took over an hour, but it didn't feel like it was heating. Oh well it's history now, it servered me well. First load today was 3 pair Jean's. I wanted to try denim by itself. They dried in 40 min set on cotton, dry for storage. It does say in the book that a full load is more efficient and that wasn't full. Hopefully next time I'll have more in there for that. The second load was a mixed bag of dark colored clothing. It took about 45 min, but I set it this time on the synthetic setting, which seemed to be a lower heat. After it was done, i probably should have chosen Cotton, but I want to get a feel for the different settings. I also think I will be sorting my laundry a bit differently now, to work with the dryer at it's best. I'll keep you posted. Everything came out soft, nothing was over cooked, that was a major plus. My setting choices are: cotton or synthetic and then you choose, machine iron (wettest), iron, slighly damp, dry for storage, or very dry. There is also a timed dry and an air fluff (no heat). When the cycle ends it beeps 4 times and goes into anti-crease mode. I believe that will last for up-to an hour. The dryer does reverse tumble and so far, nothing has come out wrinkled, another plus. I'll be doing another load or two tomorrow, so I will see how well that works. Hope this helps. I'm thinking I should be able to get most loads dry in 40 min or less. Not bad in my book, that's well before the washer would finish even on the shortest load and I've read on the various web sites that most dryers are timed to the washer, so this would be better than that. sue

Home Depot Expo and The Great Indoors both have (or had) them on the floor, as do some independent sellers and smaller chain stores like Bray & Scarff. The 240V washer has a 15A plug IIRC, and the dryer has a 15A outlet for the washer, and a 240V/30A plug for the two combined machines. Since the same dryers are used for both 120V and 240V washers, and 120V plugs don't fit in 240V outlets, I assumed the 120V washer plugs into a wall outlet separately from the dryer, on their own circuits. I've seen recent Bosch printed brochures that show the current dryers (the recently introduced larger capacity dryers with a window in the door, in either vented or ventless configuration) paired with either the standard Axxis or Axxis+ from either the old or new washer model lines. I don't know what they plan for the future, but the current models already "match" the Axxis+ already as far as i can tell.

I passed on the ebay deal due to having a previous problem buying an appliance from another seller-just wasn't worth any potential hassles for me. I paid about 250 more to get the lower line models from Best Buy and also purchased the extended warranty for peace of mind. Love the machines, they do everything I need and have so much more space than my old ASKO. (Don't get me wrong-loved the ASKO but with three almost teenagers I was doing laundry 24-7.)I can now do a week's laundry in one day. I am paying about 5.00 more a month in electric but water stayed about the same. Only problem I am having with machine is some excessive vibration on heavy loads like jeans and bath towels. I think it is possibly due to flooring as utility room is a converted back porch. My DH is planning to crawl under there and put some cross bracing in between the joists so maybe that will help.

Hey there I know this is an old topic, I have the BOSCH Nexxt 500 Mine it having an issues of just freezing in the Regular Wash mode, doesn't matter which one in that area, cold, warm, hot, and temp boost. They all start normal, but we leave then come back 45 mins later and it is frozen at 45 or 56, and it is random where it stops at. But never completes the wash cycle. Now if we turn it to off, then back to that area warm, hot whatever we had it on, it goes back to that time it was at and we can start it. But sometimes it freezes a second time or more. Also if we just do a quick wash cycle that completes no problem, goes all the way to completition and does the beep beep beep I am done sound. Any help?

Sorry. That's just the spec. sheet from the Bosch website. You'll have to look further to find the owner's manual or call Bosch directly.

By the way, the forth prong is just an additional ground for safety. An electrician can probably replace the entire cord with a 3 prong or run another power line to the outlet.

I would replace the outlet. It will cost more than the cord, but you will be up to date with the newer building codes.

I'm assuming that this is a 240 volt dryer? (Most condensing dryers I'm familiar with are 115 units.) If that is the case, then a new installation plug for 240 would have 4 prongs. If it's an old outlet, it would have 3 prongs. Most (but not all) 240 appliances can run on either type of outlet by simply changing the appliance cord to the applicable type. You CAN NOT change out the outlets from an old 3 prong outlet to a new 4 prong outlet without also changing the wire from the circuit breaker to the box. If you hired a licensed electrician to install a new outlet for the new 4 prong outlet, he should have also changed the wire. If he did not do this, then he either is not licensed or needs to surrender that license.

Although most combination washer/dryers use condensation drying and run on 120V, all recent standalone condensation dryers run on 208/240V only.

Your Bosh Axxis dryer comes from the manufacturer without a power cord. If yours was delivered with a cord, then the dealer installed it. You need to contact the dealer and advise them that your dryer arrived with a a 4-prong connecter, but that your house has the older style 3-prong outlet. Most dealers will provide the appliance with whichever connecter is appropriate.

If your dealer won't change it, then you can easily do this yourself by going to your local home center or hardware store and buying a properly rated 3-prong cord which will cost $12 to $15. The instructions for installing it on your dryer are on pages 8 & 9 of your owner's manual, complete with very clear illustrations.

The dryer can be installed with either type of plug, unless you're in a mobile home or your local electrical code doesn't allow grounding through the neutral (which is what's done using a 3-prong connecter).

Incidently, if you had an electrician out to run an entirely new circuit for a dryer, he should have installed a 4-conductor cable from the breaker panel and a 4-pronged outlet. The old 3-pronged outlets are out of date (but still legal if already in place), however new installations must be installed using 4 conductors.

When my LG came I had the same issue. I drove over to HD and got a new 'pigtail' and hooked it up myself. 10 minutes with a screwdriver and moving it out from / back to the wall.
