Bosch Nexxt 500 washer- Gild off Lily in 87 days?
Comments (8)Valves are a 'consumable' in any plumbed-in device. Feed valve life can be extended if you shut the water tap off between uses (as Bosch says to do in the manual!), though unless your water pressure is unusually high that should not normally be necessary. (If your water pressure *is* high, you can buy a flow limiter to put on the cold water tap for around $30.) Valve failure in 3 months is ridiculous. I doubt water will pool if you have it shut off at the feed, but that won't really tell you if the valves are the only problem. If the repair does not solve your problem, keep after Bosch, and if customer service gives you the run around ask how you can elevate the service request ("elevate" is often a trigger word in the service world, means you move up to a customer service person with actual authority). I think the reason all the appliance companies make service calls so difficult is that 95% of all problems are user error (not in your case!), and if a repairman was dispatched for every one then machines would cost twice as much to cover the cost of the unnecessary service visits. BTW, FIATs are actually very well-constructed cars, even the model (128 ) which gave them such a bad reputation in the US; it was service that killed them here. Appliance companies can learn a lesson from this! - DR...See MoreBosch Nexxt 500 plus washer not draining
Comments (11)FWIW, I've had similar troubles with my Bosch Nexxt 800 washer since day one! However, my non-spinning issues are not limited to small loads and I've had to drape sopping wet towels all over my house and garage before I watched one of the many repair guys who came to my house as he forced the machine to "spin" only (which otherwise is simply not an option on the 800 without knowing the special combination of keys to press to get into the washer's computer). I've also experienced several "washes" where I was alerted by the machine that the wash was finished, and it told me to remove the laundry and I found that the entire load had not turned a single time! The water and soap had been dispensed in the middle, where it was sopping wet, but the rest of the load was bone dry, and it had not gotten wet at all! And of course, the "cycle" had taken the usual amount of time, so it was time wasted as I tried to convince the machine to actually wash the load. My retailer has agreed to take back the machine since we've decided it's a lemon, and I've been considering replacing it with a Bosch 500 since I thought I remember only posts about how much people were loving their 500! Now I'm thinking I'll take my chances with a replacement 800 and hope for the best! Unfortunately for me, I had a countertop installed over my washer & dryer and did not have the foresight to make sure the height of the Bosch's was the same as every other machine brand out there. Of course, it's shorter by one inch, so I'm stuck with Bosch! Good luck to you, and thanks for posting your issues to help others understand what they may be buying!...See MoreBosch Nexxt 500 washer and random wash cycle times
Comments (4)I have the Bosch Nexxt 500 plus. It does (like most FLs) adjust the wash cycle time when necessary for several reasons. Initially, it tries to control the incoming water temperature (by mixing cold and hot) to get close to the desired wash temperature. Once completely filled, it will estimate how long it will take to heat up the water to the desired temperature when applicable. Your desription sounds like there is either an over sudsing issue or an unbalanced load. How much and what detergent are you using? Liquid detergents are very easy to overdose. You shouldn't see any real suds when using a FL. When the washer detects suds, it will add one or more additional rinse cycles to get rid of them. An additional rinse (and spin) will take approx. 15 minutes. Another reason for extended wash cycle times could be a problem with balancing the load. If things are severely tangled up, the washer might not be able to balance the load for a high spin speed. It will attempt several times to spin and to redistribute the load by tumbling back and forth. Initially, the countdown keeps going until the washer starts the spin and adjusts the remaining time accordingly. Hope this helps. I really like my Bosch washer a lot and I hope you'll get to like yours as well!...See MoreNew Bosch Nexxt 500 series problems
Comments (32)hmmm....very interesting thread. I have knocking problems that have just started with my new 7 1/2 week old Bosch 500 Nexxt also. But I'm not to sure if it was caused by a uneducated repair guy or what. I had vibration problems, when I first got it and waited 5 1/2 weeks for the ding dong repair guy to order the right amount of legs (I guess he can't count) when he put them on he used a 5" block of wood to tilt the the machine back then forward to install the new legs. I should mention that the repair guy called Bosch tech who told him to order & install the new feet that that should solve the problem. After he left the vibrations seemed worse and the knocking started. The knocking noise happens when it's ramping up and braking to slow down. Also seemed to me it was having more troubles than usual balancing before spinning. So, I called Bosch asked them if these issues could have happened from the repair guy titling the machine without re-installing the shipping bolts. Bosch said, yes it could be possible and suggested I called a different repair shop. So, I call another repair shop, this guy knows what he's doing finally, he discovers that one of the struts is worn out, bad and needs replaced. The machine is only 6 weeks old!!!!! I wait another 1 1/2 weeks for the new struts he put them on yesterday and it is still knocking, the struts didn't fix the problem. The repair guy says that he isn't to sure what it would be but it is definetly not normal. He did call Bosch later and Bosch told him that the knocking is probably due to the rubber feet, which Bosch originally said would take care of the vibration problems. I have a hard time believing it is because of the feet, I called Lowes told them the whole story, they ordered me a new machine which will be delivered next week. I have had this machine for 7 1/2 weeks it has never operated properly. It does concern me that the struts went out within 6 weeks, there are only 2 of us so I don't do much laundry so there is no way I could have worn those out that soon. I haven't given up hope yet, before the struts going out and the knocking noise, even if I was having vibrations issues, I really do like the machine. I'm just hoping that it is a "lemon" and the new machine will be fine. Oh, I forgot to mention that the first repair guy noticed when he was putting on the new feet that the back legs weren't tighten down by the Lowes delivery guys. Maybe that was the cause of the vibration problem to begin with. Wonder if vibration could do enough damage shaking to make the struts go out and the knocking since a few of us have experienced the same problems? I don't want to make it sound like Bosch is bad, there are many many people on this forum that are very happy Bosch owners, thats why I choose Bosch in the first place. I'm still hoping that I can be a happy Bosch owner also. Maybe the new 500 had a few kinks in them that didn't get worked out?...See MoreUser
