Hello all - I posted the original query - so I ordered this washer and dryer this week! I'm probably somewhat of a nut for doing this - this model doesn't have a track record yet - they haven't even made it to the states but are suppose to arrive in 2 - 3 weeks.
To pamela1: I placed my order with a local mom and pop shop called Zayas appliances (http://zayasappliance.com/)in Brooklyn, NY. I know that PC Richards and Lowes carried the earlier version of this w/d - I would assume you can order it through them. I'll let you know how it all turns out - I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

So is this new washer going to be 220V, capable of quickly heating water very hot like it's predecessor, or is it going to be 115V or whatever the standard is in the U.S.A?

Is there going to be a new larger capacity dryer to match the larger capacity of the new washer? If so, this might be the way for me to go also.

Also they don't give dimentions of this washer (or the matching capacity 1000 rpm washer) on their website. Anyone know what the depth of it will be?

I've spent the better part of the day researching this model (the 1000rpm is WAS20160). The dimensions are equal or smaller than its predecessor, but it's about 1" deeper (just under 24.5"). It's 220V, but can be plugged into a Bosch dryer and this version is supposed to heat water. I found it for about $800 in NY, so deals can be had.

Let's start with the good news.... both of the new Axxis washers will run on 208/240v power, unlike the previous models from last year where only the higher end model used 240v. Futhermore, the new dryers will be amongst the largest 24"w dryers available. The condenser (ventless) unit, which has been available for several months now, has nearly 4 cu.ft. capacity. The new vented dryer will be similar in appearance, with a window in the door, and will have 3.9 cu.ft. capacity. This is well up from 3.6' from their old Gorenje-sourced dryers they've been hawking recently, or the 3.4 cu.ft. compact dryers that Whirlpool and Kenmore make. They seem nicely made too. They should be, as list prices are $749 for the vented model and $1099 for the ventless. The top-line, deep Miele 24"w dryers are roomier still, but those are vented only. The Bosch ventless dryers are as big as they get.

The new Axxis washers will also have large capacity as 24"w units go - Bosch rates them at 3.4 cu.ft, but the U.S. DOE calls them 2.2 cu.ft. - still good for its external size; only the Whirlpool/Eurotech/Asko are bigger, and those have less then stellar workmanship. Now for the problem - although the new Bosches run on 240v power, they only draw up to 10v, and the heater maxes out at 1350w. That's not much better than the 120v Danby washer (1300w heater), and far below the 2500w expected from a 240v washer. Oddly, Bosch itself used to publish specs showing their old 2460 washers could draw 2500w, but recent literature and websites have it at 1350w for the same model, and the placard on the door shows lower wattage use as well. What's really bizarre, is that the (soon to be discontinued?) WFL2090UC 120v Axxis washer can reportedly draw up to 1800w (and 15A) for its heater, making it more powerful than their 240V cousins.

Maybe someone (AKAsTJ ?) with personal experience with owning these can fill us in on what's the deal here. I for one am confused...

Any updates on this new Axxis Plus washer? Are they in distribution yet? My 2060 finally kicked the bucket after 6 years and I'm thinking this might be a good time to upgrade to a bigger drum.

BTW, we were very happy with the old washer. We killed the pump by sending one too many hair clips through the wash.

I suspect the deal here is that Bosch is trying to comply and fall into a favorable spot within the 2008 Energy Star requirements....just like all of the rest of the new units regardless of brand....so none of the new units will be like it's predecessor.

I was just at the Engergy Star Website (link below) comparing drum capacities and I noticed that the Siemens WM10S160UC model also had a 2.2 capacity and when I went to the Siemens website, I discovered that this washer looked quite similar including the control panel. So I ask myself, who is the original manufacturer? Bosch or Siemens?

Can't wait for the matching dryer to come out. :)

So the company is German and Axxis and Siemens are German-made. So I wonder if they also manufacture the Nexxt series?

For sure I'm buying the new Axxis Plus. There's a big different between 1.85 cu ft and 2.2 cu ft.

The Nexxt series and a lot of other Bosch/Siemens appliances sold here in the US are assembled in North Carolina. They have been engineered in Germany though and a washer very similar to the Nexxt 700/800 is available in Germany as well (called Logixx 9).

Wonder if the published specs are correct? The 120V machine having an 1800W heater is highly suspect. That is the absolute maximum you could draw from a 15A circuit before blowing the circuit breaker. There isn't enough power to heat and rotate the drum and run the machine electronics at the same time. Other than some hair dryers, vapor steam cleaners and vacuum cleaners you just don't see appliances designed so close to the power limit.

Wonder if Bosch mixed up the specs with the 240V machine having the 1800W heater and the 120V machine at 1350W. Given a 240V-30A power budget for a typical dryer hookup, the Axxis+ using 240V-15A plus the dryer using 240V-13A would make a lot more sense.

FWIW, the owner/installation manual for the old 120V dryer notes only that it runs off of 120V, 60Hz, 15A, 1800W (max) supply voltage, noting that "the supply voltage must correspond to the voltage spec on the washer (nameplate). Connection specs as well as the required fuses are stipulated on the appliance nameplate." Doesn't seem to indicate whether it actually draws the max 1800w whilst drying, in which case only about 1500w would be available for the heating element to allow some power to operate the drum and fan blower.

I'll check out the placard inside the doors if I can make it to the stores soon, that's where the actual max amps or volts drawn by the device (and often just the heating elements alone) are shown.

lee676, I have checked every appliance (chain and private) store in my area in NJ and not one had an Axxis sitting on the floor. What types of stores in your area carry the Axxis? I see a million stores carrying the Nexxt but not the Axxis. I don't know if I could buy a washer/dryer without looking at it in person first.

My thinking on the heaters is(and I'm no expert)that the 120v has a dedicated voltage for the washer only hense a larger heater. The 240v washer shares that voltage with the dryer. And when using both washer and dryer at the same time, there is a smaller amount(less than 120v) allocated to the washer, hense a smaller heater?

I have contacted Bosch asking for any info on a future matching dryer for the new AxxisPlus and they forwarded the manual for the WTV76100US. Do these people not read their emails? I'm sick of these generic responses where they respond with information you already know and never answer the real question. Anyway, does anyone know for sure if there will be a future matching dryer for the Axxis+? Thanks.

Home Depot Expo and The Great Indoors both have (or had) them on the floor, as do some independent sellers and smaller chain stores like Bray & Scarff.

The 240V washer has a 15A plug IIRC, and the dryer has a 15A outlet for the washer, and a 240V/30A plug for the two combined machines. Since the same dryers are used for both 120V and 240V washers, and 120V plugs don't fit in 240V outlets, I assumed the 120V washer plugs into a wall outlet separately from the dryer, on their own circuits.

I've seen recent Bosch printed brochures that show the current dryers (the recently introduced larger capacity dryers with a window in the door, in either vented or ventless configuration) paired with either the standard Axxis or Axxis+ from either the old or new washer model lines. I don't know what they plan for the future, but the current models already "match" the Axxis+ already as far as i can tell.

I am in the process of purchasing an Axxis washer and dryer. However, am in a bit of a quandary as Bosch seems to have failed to update the user manuals they have available via PDF.

Can someone confirm that the Bosch Axxis washer WAS20160UC (240V 10A) plugs into the Bosch Vented Dryer WTV76100US (240V 13A)? Can they both be plugged into a single 240V 30A supply outlet?

We are moving to a home with a set-up only for a stackable w/d and from what I have read the Axxis seems like a great candidate. The space is 37" though and there are five people in our family, so we could go for a bigger machine (but not a Bosch since it doesn't stack the Nexxt). Has anyone used the Axxis with a 3 kids?

I'm looking to purchase this new WAS24460UC Axxis PLUS washer with the WTV76100US dryer. But I can't find any info on these Axxis units, ie, the WAS24460UC. Why is information so difficult to find in professional reviews and ratings? I see the Nexxt in professional reviews but not the Axxis. How is the workmanship and durability compared to the more well-known Nexxt series? Anyone? Thanks

I'm reviving this thread as we are interested in compact machines and the Axxis line seems to be promising (if within budget of course). Have any of the questions previously asked here been resolved by actual purchasers? I'm going to have to run electric circuits in for the machines, need to know if it's one 220v or a 220 and a 110v. Will be getting a vented dryer. Also, the opening to our closet is 48", although we might be able to cheat that a bit; the closet itself is wider. Can the machines touch if setting side-by-side? Any info on real-world pricing? And more importantly, are owners happy with the performance and reliability of the machines after a period of use. We will probably be visiting Bray & Scharff this weekend, maybe other stores (MD/DC area). Thanks for any info.

I think they make both a 110v and 220v version of the washer, but the 220v version is more prevalent and by all means get it if your house can accept it (faster water heating). Lowe's and Great Indoors (in Gaithersburg) also sell these; some regular Sears stores have them as well. The dryer and washer each need only a 15A circuit, and the dryer has a fused 220V/15A outlet on the back, so you can plug the washer into the dryer, and the dryer into a standard 220V/30A dryer outlet thus powering both machines. I think the machines can touch but check the installation manuals (downloadable from boschappliances.com)

I've had a set since last Sept and I really like them. They've pretty much have handled everything I've thrown at them including a 4x6 cotton rug. The washer is 220V and washer plugs into the dryer as mentioned above. So all you need is a 220V outlet. Although a 110 line wouldn't hurt for resale.

I purchased mine from a local store that actually had them on the floor to look at. I could have ordered them from Sears since their sales price was much cheaper, but the local chain matched sears price. I saved quite a bit and I still was able to buy from the store that actually had a floor model.

Mine wobbles a little initially on spin up (not much, just a little) so I wouldn't put them right next to each other. But you probably wouldn't need too much space.

Unless you're not using the pedestals, might as well stack them in your closet, and then used the remaining 24" (or more) for a countertop, laundry sink, or shelving. Then the extra 120V outlet becomes almost moot since many of those one-piece stacked W/Ds only one plug used for both machines, a 240V/30A. If you have the depth (and height) you could use 27"w machines too (although separate stacked units all need separate 120V and 208/240V outlets.
