medicine cabinets/design help please
Comments (0)Due to time constraints (unplanned bath remodel due to large water loss), we will be an installing 2 30” vanities with a 3” pullout between them. Estimate 1-1.5” filler on either side. So, it will be 65-66” with 2 sinks. There will be walls on either side of the vanity (the left will be a partial wall with glass as it is next to the shower). We are planning on 2 medicine cabinets. At this point, planning on Robern (want outlets inside, no lights on exterior) but are open to other brands if you have ideas. Ou preference is to recess them. The contractor has told us we can recess the 20” mirrors, but if we go with the 24” he would have to move pipes which would not be worth doing for us. So, I have a number of initial questions... Would you go with the recessed 19” or the wall hung 24”? Given the middle pullout, would you center the mirrors on the sinks or on the entire vanity cabinet? I’m concerned about the look - especially that it would leave a lot more space between the mirrors than on either side. We are planning on doing wall sconces on either side & between the mirrors. We like the tall, rectangular type of sconce similar to this: https://www.lampsplus.com/products/modern-forms-vogue-11-inch-high-chrome-led-wall-sconce__59a36.html?sourceid=EmailWishlist&cm_lm=323504051070553&src=triggered&mdm=email&cmp=EmailWishlist&trm=052819&cnt=click&cm_mmc=tra-em--lp--eTellAFriend-_-mproduct but could do smaller squares with a double in the middle if that would make a big difference. https://www.lampsplus.com/products/hudson-valley-milford-5-and-three-quarter-inch-high-chrome-wall-sconce__14390.html?sourceid=EmailWishlist&cm_lm=323504051070553&src=triggered&mdm=email&cmp=EmailWishlist&trm=052819&cnt=click&cm_mmc=tra-em--lp--eTellAFriend-_-mproduct Sorry. Having trouble embedding photos. Thanks...See MoreDesign help please!!
Comments (9)The pieces look like nice pieces, but it’s very matchy matchy, which is usually not great. I’d personally remove the chair and either return it if you can, sell it or use somewhere else in the house. I’d keep the couch and loveseat in an L configuration with a round pedestal table between them. I’d find an accent chairs in a pattern or color to use in the room, and then I’d add in a coffee table, floor lamp table lamp, pillows and art. I think you need to get the seating figured out first....See MoreDesign Help please!
Comments (10)You need to make it obvious that the way into the house is up the stairs. Hence, somehow emphasize the foot of the stairs with landscaping and color. Could you continue the wall to the other side of the driveway? We need a better photo of the entrance to the stairs. Could you have the stairs rebuilt so that the steps aren't so high and hence that the bottom step comes out into the driveway. You could also widen the stairs to emphasize them and perhaps have a spot for a planter on the bottom....See MoreDesign help! PLEASE!
Comments (5)The trunk does not appear right for that area. It seems too small for the space - and the picture looks too close to the size of the trunk. It would be good if you could add the dimensions of both to help us determine if it would work or not. What is on the other side of the room? Can you place the sofa (the one along the wall) on the opposite side of the rug, facing the wall instead? Agree that those sconces don't do anything for the room, and are at a very awkward height and spacing. I would eliminate them if possible - this will open so many more design options for the room. I would also try turning the rug or purchase a rug that better fits the room....See MorePierre Douglas
