Design Help badly needed- I can't decide on anything!
Comments (9)If you know yourself to be a 'wood finish' cabinet person, I wouldn't force yourself to go to painted just because it would 'look right.' You want to feel at home and like it's your room, not a stranger's kitchen that looks nice from afar. Although it's not necessary, including some painted sections or pieces can be fun. DH and I are definitely wood cabinet people, but we have some painted mixed into our kitchen and I love the combination and it's a nice change for me. And although I love them, it still wouldn't have been 'me' at all to have everything painted. The funny thing for me is that my inspiration kitchens were almost all painted white or cream. I just had to find what else there was about the rooms that spoke to my heart and try to emulate the overall feeling without the white paint. I think that if you take this out of the imagining stage and go look at flooring samples with cabinet samples, you can pick 2 things that both would be considered in the medium range, but that provide enough contrast from each other. Pcjs's suggestion for red oak, I think is a good one. Birch is another that is gorgeous and not too light, while being a good base for some pretty cabinets. There are so many choices and possible combinations. Don't despair. :-) Best wishes!...See MoreCan't find photos of what I think I want
Comments (8)Annegriet, I'm not the best person to point you toward specific inspiration photos but others on this board are and hopefully will show up soon to help you out. In the meantime you can search the photos on Houzz. Start with something in the search box like "small condo living room" as a starting point....See MoreHelp! I can’t pick an coffee table/ottoman
Comments (7)This sounds like a lot of dark. As a proud mud puppy mom (photo included because, well...), I'd encourage you to think about adding easy to clean fabrics in a lighter color. Maybe a white leather ottoman to complement the white pillows you're planning to add? Or something made from a performance fabric, like the stuff Sunbrella makes? We've had a light grey couch for awhile that is a not-so-resilient IKEA fabric, but it's machine washable. That's another direction to go in for a fabric ottoman. I would encourage you to think lighter for the rug, too. We have a light grey, cream, and taupe rug with a lot of irregularity and variety to it, kind of likethis one, but we bought it for a lower price several years ago at HomeGoods. It has survived multiple moves, a renovation, and potty training and it's still nice enough to go into a formal living room space. It looks modern and adds a lightness to the room. Follow up: the rug I included came up when I did a search for modern industrial area rug. You could also look at distressed area rugs....See MoreCan't Find A Coffee Table To Finish My Living Room
Comments (8)That would work but I don't want to ship from New Hampshire as you point out. 😀 However even with shipping, it is still a relative bargain as Chairish has what appears to be the same table for $5500 plus $600 shipping. 😱 I am also reluctant to large items over the internet because I had a bad experience when the chest was defective and I was expected to pack it up and arrange for shipping it back. I would order internet through a design establishment because that is standard in the trades and my designer would have the relationship with the design house....See MoreJAN MOYER
