Ok this is simple really. When ever your dealing with a room that does not get much light you must stick with a light color. Now a rule you should always go with is find the color you want that might be a lil dark for that room and on the same card or page in the book go down 1-3 colors and that is your color. See the colors on that page or card are basically the same just light to dark. So if you like the dark version of one color when you put the lighter one on your wall it will show good similarty to the darker color you wanted first.

Rule about paint colors --- Lighting is everything. I just moved into a new house and am repainting it all, b/c I am compulsive about painting first. Even if I have to repaint and repaint a room (immediately) till it's right, I do it. I AM compulsive.... and it always serves to remind me that Lighting (Light, not the lamps) is everything. I tried Light Pewter in my bedroom, but it was a bit too much to the grey side of taupe for me. Another bedroom I did in a similar shade but leaning a bit more to the beige side is Edgecomb Grey. Has a very urban sophisticated look. I was happy with it for that room. Revere Pewter is very nice, too. It is a bit warmer. (Remember, Lighting is everything). Miss Mary

First off, I can see you have so many colors right next to each other for swatching, and when I see a client do that I know I have lost them. Can you cover those colors, and regroup? There are too many colors... and now you are most likely unable to see any of them, even if you had a winner! A few color options to consider is Light Pewter, White Dove or Grey Owl (all Benjamin Moore) are all colors I have used in combo with Revere Pewter very successfully, and both options could work well in this space. Keep in mind when it is covering a larger space it doesn't look as dark as when it is in just one spot... and it will dry a different color. Another trick that designers sometimes do is purchasing a pearl or semi gloss finish which tends to read brighter since it allows the light to reflect off of the surface. You mentioned Sherwin Williams, but you are referencing Benjamin Moore color names. Benjamin Moore is the only one that does a pearl finish, so that is important. Let us know how you make out! ♥

I see brown/green undertones in Revere Pewter; I see gray/brown undertones in Light Pewter Revere Pewter is a beautiful wall color. However, like any paint color, it will be affected by natural light. I have it in my living room/dining, which get east, north and south light and it Is perfect thought the day. You have very little natural light in the basement room, so going light isn’t always the answer. If you have a dark room where you need to have lights on all the time, do something deeper which works with the lighting you have. My experience is darker makes a space look bigger because the corner shadows aren’t as obvious.
