HELP-Kitchen update dilemma...Quartz/Trilium, paint colors

Sherri S

The need to change our countertops has prompted a kitchen update. Formica needs to go. Leaning towards quarts on exterior counters. Want a showpiece for island counters. Currently have dark granite on bartop only.

Torn between going darker on countertops or lighter...

We really like the look of Dekton-Trilium. It's great on all counts apparently except for cracking/chipping with heavy things dropped on it...which is why we're thinking about just using it on the island.

Here is the Dekton that we're thinking about putting on the island:

On exterior countertops leaning towards a coordinating quartz:

Possibly Copper Mist Silestone or

or Brooklyn Silestone

We really want to tone down all of the wood in the kitchen.

Here are our other design thoughts:

  • Walls to be painted possibly Shoji White from SW.

  • Possibly paint desk cabinets a dark gray as well as the wall of the island. Remove wainscot wallpaper and paint Anew Gray from SW.

  • Refinish floors someday when replacing living room carpet.

Here are images of our current kitchen. Hickory cabinets stained golden. Good shape but need touchup finish in worn spots
