I have an oak kitchen and found that cream subway tile looked best with my particular wood tone. I color matched the cream tile to a small sample jar of paint and painted part of the backsplash cream and part white. I liked the cream better - but that will depend on your own stain color. If you go with gray, go very light. In all honesty, warm wood tones and cool grays really don't look that great together. Neither does anything for the other. The grays were formulated to work with the white or very dark stained cabinets. Warm wood tones look best with cream, creamy beige, blues and greens. The blues and greens can have a gray undertone, so if you don't like the thought of a cream or beige, look at a green/gray. I do have white trim and I like it a lot, but it was never oak - it was dark stained pine. The decision to paint was easy. Do not paint interior doors if they are nice oak paneled doors. The white trim with oak paneled doors looks fine. Here is my kitchen. Jhmarie, so funny/ironic you posted the pic with the dark gray walls, because I just remembered a friend who purchased a home with oak cabinets and painted her walls Benjamin moore Storm AF-700 and it actually looked amazing! She had light gray tile flooring and black appliances as well. And she brightened it up with lots of white and bright accent pieces. So the white beadboard wallpaper is a genius (and inexpensive) recommendation. I actually love it so much I'm going to save that idea for my house. Hillaryndillon, it's completely understandable to feel that way! You want to LOVE your house and when you see all these awesome ideas on HGTV it's easy to get discouraged. You have a very nice kitchen. My advice is to move in, clean, unpack. Live in it a couple months before making any decisions. See what works/doesn't work. For example gray walls might seem nice but depending on the direction the room faces and the lighting, a gray could be too dark/drab for the space. You won't know until you're there for a little while. It took about 6 months of living in our home to really decide which rooms we want to repaint. Seeing the rooms at different times of day/different lighting can make a huge difference. Also you may find some oil rubbed bronze light fixtures on sale or clearance.. and that could jumpstart an entirely new design direction (you may want to do ORB cabinet hardware if lighting is ORB)... so see what I mean? Don't rush it. :) I made that mistake before and it stinks when you just want to CHANGE a space so badly that you get excited and do it without really getting to know the space and also researching design ideas. One thing I wish I'd known about sooner is "whole house paint scheme"... google it or search on Pinterest. Really great ideas on how to use color (paint) in each room of your home so it coordinates and looks thoughtfully planned out. I had never heard of it until I used this forum. Lots of ideas on here. After reading the latest posts, I see you are further along than you think. All the colors you named plus Gray Owl are grey green. If these are your walls throughout, it sounds like you are leaning toward painting over Dusty Trail. I say: go for it. So the only question now is: do you want the kitchen cabinets to read as green-blue, or as definitely "gray?" Note: with these pretty beach colors either will be beautiful. If Mindful Gray is still on your list please do a sample. Online it looks like anything from purple to putty to charcoal depending on lighting. Looking at your swatches again.... Benjamin Moore White Dove is a good off white color if you decide for your living room--if you don't want the green in there. SW Agreeable Gray looks the most "greige" of your chips, it may blend with the existing kitchen floor. If you definitely don't want beige, you could eliminate White Duck. This is the kind of thinking I try to do with paint. Again sample boards are needed because paint will not look exactly like the chip in your home.

@Sabrina Alfin - Well, that wasn’t my choice - it was my SO’s decision. We are basically renovating my entire house (he’s moving in with me) - and I basically have free reign to do whatever I want on the inside. So, I let him coordinate the back side. Seemed lime a good trade at the time. i wasnt theilled when I saw the drawings/plans for the covered patio area. I discussed it with him - and since the back of the house already didn’t really represent a ”colonial” style style, I gave in to him. It just wasn’t worth arguing over. I figured that I could change the detailing by roofline + paint cedar in furture if I decided to without spending a lot of $$. This way I get the kitchen of my dreams!
