Please help me with MudRoom / Laundry Design
Comments (1)Personally, I would want a door to close off the laundry room from the rest of the house. Next, I would want to access the 1/2 bath without having to enter the laundry room. You might want to use it when guests come or larger groups and I wouldn't want them having to go through the laundry. Absolutely, you need a sink.,,,hand washing, mop buckets, wet towels, etc. I have a huge double sink....one side for dog washing the other for chores. I'd want an area to hang laundry out of the wash. I would also want a lot of counter space for folding, wrapping presents, crafts, etc. Where would you put your ironing board?...See MoreLaundry&Powder Room&Mudroom Oh My
Comments (17)I love planning spaces so I took some time and drew up three ideas for you. This was my first idea, with the thought that it would be nice to have the most used room at the forefront. But soon realized you'd have a larger folding area if you used the top of your washer and dryer for folding so I made a few changes utilizing the last photo GeoKid shared as inspiration. Then it dawned on me that having the two sinks basically side by side and the fact that moving the toilet would be costly I thought I should remove the bathroom sink and use a double sink with a large deep side for soaking and small shallow side for washing hands when something is soaking. This last one is my favorite. Even though it doesn't give you two separate rooms I feel, because of the W/D being hidden you get the best use of the space without having the added cost of moving too much of the plumbing and electrical. Comments (1)I would go with something close in color to the background of the laundry tile. Using that for all the small areas in question will keep it less choppy....See MoreMudroom/Laundry Side Entry questions - your opinions
Comments (20)I absolutely do not like the mudroom and the laundry room in the same room. Seems like completely different functions: a mudroom - a place to enter from the outdoors when completely and thoroughly dirty, wet, and/or muddy while bundled in boots/coats/hats/gloves (all of which need to be shed and hung up) while also carrying backpacks, the mail, a purse, groceries, etc; and a laundry room - a place in which to wash/sort/hang up/fold/iron clean clothes. I understand why these two rooms might be CLOSE to each other, but not TOGETHER in the same room....See Morecalidesign
