Hi @lazy_gardens...I have attempted to collect actual proof in the form of photos; but as involving someone else isn't really practical I've relied on selfies, which themselves can vary in lighting, the angle of my head and the distance of the camera. And I'm not tech-savvy enough to be able to do the overlays you describe on a computer screen. But I agree that this would be a way to tell for sure if there's an actual difference. More recently I've been taking measurements with digital calipers along with recording atmospheric data, but either there's too much user error (i.e., inconsistency in measuring) or the weather has not yet changed significantly enough to collect any real "evidence." My mention of sinus contraction and expansion comes from a recent paper I came across, which describes differences in the size and shape of the maxillofacial sinuses and the corresponding nasal cavities in response to atmospheric conditions (http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ar.22655/full). However I wasn't sure if this was describing real-time changes taking place in a person's face or simply adaptive traits evolved in hot and humid vs. cold and dry environments. I have written the author for clarification but haven't yet heard back. Your point on bone movement being painful is well-taken, though; but I still wonder if the issue isn't related to the changing air pressure in the sinuses with changing humidity (humid air being less dense than dry air). I've also learned that blood pressure is lower in low-pressure atmospheric conditions, due to the relaxation of blood vessels, and wonder if this might also (or alternately) be a factor. I've started using a neti pot experimentally to see if different salt concentrations have any effect and may also try other recipes as well.

I'm bothered by some instances of flashing lights, such as sunlight through trees, or the flickering of a computer monitor. And similar to what Meme Moma describes I sometimes experience migraines that start as he/she describes. Often if I consume enough caffeine quickly enough when the visual symptoms start I can prevent it from becoming a full-blown migraine. Interestingly a co-worker sometimes wears a jacket that has a jagged, black and white, zig-zag pattern, and for me at least her jacket looks like a migraine especially when viewed under fast flickering fluorescent lights. If I look at her jacket for more than a few seconds the pattern seems to start shifting or vibrating or shaking. Another time a different co-worker was next to me with her laptop that had a wildly animating screen saver program. I started watching the fascinating patterns and then >nothing< and then meeting was over. I'm not sure whether I was asleep or in a trance or what, but at least ten minutes was just gone.

Hi. I'm the orginal poster. Our cork floor is now in. We're about one month out from finishing our whole house (down to studs). We went with Cali- Cork, with a color called Pura. I was concerned with fading since we will have tons of light and it goes well with the modern Scandinavian esthetic. It mimics the look of concrete or terrazzo and the sample tile I placed in full sunlight for the past year has shown no noticeable fading. We went with the click/lock flooring over glue-down for 2 reasons. One was cost. Glue down is more expensive because the cost of the adhesive and labor. Also, glue-down takes an installer with expert knowledge handling cork and that's nearly impossible to find. Bottom line, I couldn't be happier. I was concerned the floor would feel hard since we have a concrete slab and you don't get a sense of how the floor will feel based on a 6" sample square of tile. I had the GC put down an underlayment with the cork floor on top and its amazing! There's a softness and bounce that almost feels like carpet. Bottom line, I love the floors and am relieved that I love the floors.:) The entire house is cork except for the 3 bathrooms where I opted for porcelain tile.
