Aside from the shrubs, as is, I like this entrance. If and when your shrubs grow and fill in between them and you can trim them a uniform height just above the floor level, that will be an improvement. Perhaps you could move the shrubs closest to the railing to a bare spot between the other shrubs. Adding a pair of large planters -- one on each side of the steps -- with something to add color could improve curb appeal. It looks as if you may have a wall that you can/are walking all the way around. If it's not a weight bearing wall, you might consider removing it; however, if there is any chance it is a weight bearing wall or if it serves to block the view from the living room into a bedroom or bath, you might consider altering it to be floor to ceiling shelving instead of just a plain wall. Agree w/FloMangan. Not an expert but that table could well be an antique -- would not paint it. Check for cleaning products recommended for antiques such as oil soaps. If you still don't like the look of the table once it's thoroughly cleaned, you could try rubbing it with a scratch cover product (such as Old English Scratch Cover -- they make a light (yellow), a medium (red). (They also make a dark you probably want to avoid using on an antique.) If the mirror frame is actual wood, would not paint it either; however, if the mirror frame is not wood, you might consider painting it ... perhaps black or white. For a narrow entrance hall: If it looks "empty" to you but there really isn't room for adding furniture, consider wainscoting (white if that's your trim color) w/painted wall w/art or mirror above.

So I would absolutely keep the rug. I would do a cooler color on the wall like a gray green or gray blue. Get a runner to go between the doors that coordinates with your existing rug. I would add real baseboards but if you can’t just paint a 4” wide white band above what you have to fake it. Add a narrow console table with an open decorative front to hide the air conditioner. Paint the door to the house charcoal gray. I found these curtain panels that to me could mimic artwork to hide the vertical blinds. Then add a seating are there. Keep the bench and mirror as is. I don’t have photoshop so excuse my poor mockups lol.
