Choices made (mostly) and now I am stuck
Comments (11)Thank you for your response May_Flowers. Being thrown into two bath remodels when I had not even been considering it, plus the lives of 3 busy teenagers, I have been overwhelmed with this. This has been my inspiration photo. Right now, I have light Bottocino Fiorito marble floors, stained cabinets and white culture marble counter tops and 4x4 white shower tile with faux painted walls and ceiling. So I am basically reversing everything. [[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/los-altos-hils-formal-french-chateau-traditional-bathroom-san-francisco-phvw-vp~1945470) [Traditional Bathroom[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-bathroom-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_712~s_2107) by Danville Interior Designers & Decorators Culbertson Durst Interiors I am going for the light stone with dark counter tops and white cabinet look. I am even doing the kick board on the cabinets as this photo does, plus the dark accents in the floor. The MOP tile I was only putting on the corner bench base in the shower as I wanted something pretty, as I have had to give up a lot of other things that were pretty from my original inspiration photo. I ordered several samples of pearl tile and this one has no blues. It is white with tan/pink tones. I should have posted before I ordered it. The online photos of rooms didn't show blues like MOP does, so I am keeping fingers crossed. when it gets here, If it looks bad,and shows more colors than in the sample, I will not go with it, but are you saying you think it is too much going on to use it on the bench only, if the whole shower is 12 x 24 travertine with the Versailles floor? Here is a photo of my slab of granite while still in the warehouse. The little sample pieces I have are not a good representation of the whole piece. The water jet mosaic I wanted to use in the tub alcove and as a back splash, was the flower one (but I don't have a sample of it yet) and used the other one just to get an idea what it would look like. Raz, Thanks for your reply. The whole alcove will be 12x24 brick laid travertine. The photoshoped line would be the border tile at the top of the trav, with a dome liner on top of the border. After reading some suggestions here and showing DH, we may just eliminate the border altogether in the alcove and back splash and do as you suggest, and just go with the dome liner on top of the travertine. Thanks for you input. I really needed some outside eyes and opinions....See MoreBuilding my first home - need help with color choices!
Comments (10)nice choices. I think I like the gray, (or even a lighter gray or off white) better than the espresso. I think w/that flooring it's just going to be too dark. look at how the dark floors show all the dust and dirt,,,,now imagine how those dark cabs will look? you will be wiping daily. go w/the lighter choice. (I do hope that when these two floorings are laid, there won't be that lip????)...See MorePlease need any advise on paint choices for my very small very stuck!!
Comments (6)whatever you have on the window trim, I'd do that white. Then I would do some sort of color tile splash or at least paint the beadboard a soft color. that's a lot of white on white update your hardware to nickel too. do you know how to fill in holes?...See MoreStuck with how to improve exterior of my home. Help!
Comments (16)Nice home. House has a bit of a modern vibe to it. Not really a fan of pink for any part of the exterior of a home -- but that's a personal preference. I'd definitely stain the pink stone a darker color. Is your roof gray? If so, a dark gray would be worth considering or pick the lightest color from within your red brick. (Not usually a fan of painting brick or stone, but in this case, I'd likely make an exception. ) You've clearly expended time/effort/energy/$ on your landscaping and it looks really good. From the angle of the pic you've included, your front yard and porch appear to be blocked off. from access via the driveway. If you want the entry to feel welcoming to guests, you m ight consider how you might draw attention to the entrance/path to access your porch from your driveway... if there is a path; if not, you might want to create a path -- or make an existing one a bit more obvious. You might consider adding a post with a solar light atop it beside that path. As your spruce tree grows, it may well provide more shade than many of the plants you have like/need. I like trees in my yard and the shade they can provide my home, especially during the hot summer, but adding one too close to the foundation has the potential for eventually giving you some trouble. Do keep that in mind if you're making any changes to the landscaping or even to the house itself, such as if you're considering covering a walkway by extending your front porch roof as a flat roof (4'-6' deep) over the walkway to the garage. You might consider a white portico (about 18" deep) above the garage door supported by brackets on each side of the garage door, wide enough so you could have the option of adding a hanging basket with flowers that bloom from each corner as the spruce provides more shade than flowering plants might like. A gate ( perhaps with a portico above it continuing from above the garage) could "hide" utility items on the right side of the garage -- the area doesn't look particularly bad as is but are just more obvious (by comparison) because the front yard landscaping looks so very good....See Moregirl_wonder
