I, personally, would do only one type of door and I would go with the plainer version. In fact, I would prefer something even plainer than what you've shown - no arch at the top of the top panel.

What is a modern farmhouse? What does the rest of your interior look like? Furniture? Wall Colors? Floor covering and colors?

There is nothing about either of these doors that says farmhouse. I suggest you consider other styles of doors. If the only choice is the two illustrated, I suggest second one.

No mixing styles, no arches, no fake grooves, and I would choose a flat instead of a raised panel.

I find the arch top and raised panel to be entirely inappropriate for a farmhouse whether it be old or modern. The fake beadboard effect on the raised panels some kind of joke and doesn't belong in any house, anywhere.

I would use a flat 2 panel door with old fashioned sticking (around the edges of the panels) like you would expect to see in an older rural house. .

One style for all the doors. No arched top. PPF shows a good door.

Those doors are both more country French from last century. You can clear things up to your benefit by doing some research to get familiar with more than names.

Definitely to flat panel doors. A raised panel door is a more formal style meant for Colonial or Victorian or the like and generally at odds with farmhouse. unless you were recreating a rural saltbox or Greek Revival style. And per dan above the specific doors you are considering are a hold over from the French Country style. Maybe it is just me working with real stile and rail solid wood doors, but whenever I see the grooves in the raised panels like that, it screams "this door is fake!". I would recommend 4-6 panel doors arranged horizontal style as PPF has shown, single flush panel doors, or the flush panel version of your door without the arch.

The farmhouse I grew up in had doors like PPF's example. The farmhouse I rented for eight years had a mix of doors. The farmhouse I owned had flush doors. They were all modern when they were built in 1901, 1874, and 1955 respectively. Take your pick because 'modern farmhouse' has no definable style.

Makes sense I would lean towards a country french door, the house is in Louisana on 12 acres of land over looking 200 yr live oaks.

This is why I said that the decorating or style part is something you want to think about now because as you can see it affects many of the building choices, from doors to hardware to lighting fixtures etc.

But it's also important to take into account the house's location/setting, as well as the design of the house itself. What do the elevations of your house look like?

One can, of course, plop a "modern farmhouse" decorating style into a Creole cottage or an American four square or a brick colonial, but the result is more effective when the interior and exterior work together harmoniously. The alternative to this is, as echoed in the Maria Killam article, to keep the bones of the house timeless and classic, and then decorate around that in whatever style one currently favors.

Cyndy - Thank you for the photo, I will have shaker cabinets, so I wasn't sure if that style would be too matchy matchy. beckysharp linked the exact same door! The house is only 1700 sq ft. The views take my breath away. This is just a weekend getaway house.

If you are using shaker cabinets, I would choose one of these two styles.

Either would be appropriate. The first - the traditional 6-panel door is a classic and has been used in many styles of houses for centuries. The second, a shaker-style door, would be a bit more "farmhouse" if that is what you want.
