Let's unpack this a little, for people who don't hang out on this forum endlessly. All of this has been stated above, for the most part, with varying degrees of success and/or tact. But here are the issues that some of the responses are objecting to: Most actual farmhouses were built in the prevailing style of the day. Which means they are, for the most part, Greek Revival, American Foursquare, Gothic Revival, or a smattering of local vernacular styles applicable to the region. There is no unifying "farmhouse" architectural style. The home rendered above is very much of the modern eclectic style typified by an asymetrical facade, lots and lots of roof, and a garage set at an angle to the main mass of the house. None of this says "farmhouse." And you can't really make it SAY "farmhouse" just in cladding choices. So there are a couple of options:

1. Pick cladding materials appropriate to the style of the home itself. Which means dressing it in the materials typical of the suburban home from which this house takes its roots.

2. Stick with the white scheme chosen and try not to stray too much from good design principles.

Since the OP has chosen the latter, a few cautions should be made.

Stone veneer was invented to mimic the look of stone without the expense, need for a stone mason, or weight. However, in order to continue to fool the viewer into believing that a portion of the house is made of stone, it needs to be used as real stone would have been used. Which means that it should go all the way around the house, and should never go "up" a facade in such a way that it would have to be supported by wooden portions of the house. (real stone is too heavy for that).

If using board and batten, then just board and batten should be used. There is a modern trend to feel that using multiple claddings adds "interest." What it mostly adds is visual confusion, unless its done really well. You can mix claddings IF the home has been designed to look as if it started as a smaller structure and then was added onto over the years. (At that point, different cladding profiles, in the same or different colors, help add to the narrative effect of the design).

Take a look around (and take a camera!) at real farm houses. Sort out those that retain most of their original features and study them. While you will sometimes see a mix of vertical tongue and groove siding with clapboard of the same profile width, what you don't typically see is board and batten mixed with horizontal clapboard. Unless, as mentioned above, there is an obvious addition to the house.

As there is nothing about this house to suggest a gradual accretion of houseness over time, if you will, I'd do the whole thing in board and batten. Skip the stone. Save the $20K for the barn.
