Powder room wallpaper - whole wall or half?
Comments (21)Wow, thanks everyone! What a response, I guess I better go whole wall! To clarify, I intend to do four walls - I guess I really meant whole bathroom rather than whole wall. Other than the sink, mirror and toilet there will be a long floating cabinet running from six inches above the floor to six inches from the ceiling. Plus on the primary 'uninterrupted' wall (i.e. no sink, toilet or cabinet) there is a transom, so even that wall will be broken up somewhat. Final point, this powder room will be used by children quite a bit, I have a five year old and a 2.5 yr old (no home daycare though!). I think I can live with the wear and tear factor - I may have to repaper in a few years, we'll see. If it is useful information, the ceilings are 9', so it will still be a lot of wallpaper! Despite all this, people still think I should go for it? Both my husband and I do love the wallpaper (always a good sign). Karin1, good advice about figuring out how many rolls I will need. That may dictate how I proceed a little. Thanks again everyone!...See Morehelp with Powder room wall tiles and wallpaper
Comments (11)I’d look for a smaller, better proportioned mirror and a rectangle shape would better suit your sink. Tape out proportions before purchasing. Now you have room for waterproof sticker tiles, adding one or two strips across sink. The least money/effort, but solves water issue and creates a ”look” which you can expand on. https://wood-insider.com/a/s/products/tile-stickers-dutch-antique-24pc-6x6in-peel-and-stick-for-kitchen-and-bath-bw002-6-24pcs Add new art over toilet for more impact and to feel better coordinated. Comments (45)I will disagree with Jan. Doing one wall in paper can turn out nicely and allow for a busier paper than would otherwise be comfortable, especially in a small space. I have hung wallpaper in many rooms myself including those I've pasted and those that were prepasted, but I've never done peel and stick. I'm not sure how it would work as, part of hanging paper, is being able to slide it so that you can get the seams to line up perfectly so they don't show. With it sticking on contact, I would think that would make it much harder. If you do decide to paper yourself, make sure you book the paper (folding each strip glue side to glue side and letting it rest). Also I've found that the fuzzy part of a paint roller, not in the handle, is a great smoothing tool...it allows you to apply enough pressure without scratching the paper at all. And absolutely prep the walls before hand or you will hate yourself when you decide to remove it....See Morepowder room design ideas--silver wallpaper alert
Comments (18)Cosmetic updates to an existing powder room do not require you to bring it up to modern code. Ignore all that and make it pretty. Will you use a marble chair rail to separate the wall finishes? Painted rail? The little things are the hard ones. I like Jan's vanity. It's pretty much what you need. It'll look better with chrome than the faucet it is pictured with. I happen to love the old "builder gizmo, sunk into the wall" TP holders in a small bathroom. They can save valuable inches. If you can afford the space, something modern would be appropriate....See MoreTerra L
